Description Ah, at long last, we get to the best boy of the bunch, Rover. My former flagship OC before I killed him off, then resurrected him, then completely changed almost everything about him. The first Deviation of him I made  was a little too puppy-ish, and the next one I made  looked a little too grown up. So here he is now, right smack in the middle. Neither too young that he looks like a little pupper, nor too big that he looks like a father. And I also completely reworked the lore for him to fit with the current lore, which I'll promptly write.
Rover Goldie Shepard was a Golden Shepherd and the youngest son of Darcy and Robert. He was a prodigious kid too, finding an unusually large interest in technology. He once took apart his mom's walkie talkie and repieced it back together perfectly when he was four, and he did it with his paws. Do you even know how hard it is to hold things with paws, let alone manipulate them? Kid's a genius bound for fame. He loved his father, whom he often called "Rad Dad," cause hey, he was rad in Rover's eyes. He was really scared of his mom however, mainly because that one time he fiddled around with his mom's walkie talkie, he got caught in the act and sentenced to his room all weekend. Darcy of course didn't mean him any harm, but Robert felt she was stifling his true capabilities, and through technology he could really shine.
At one point he chased a squirrel down the street, and got ran over by a car. This would've been the end, however a person picked his almost dead body off the road, and instead of selling him as a roadkill rug, bought him over to a laboratory and rebuilt him anew. Ya see, that person was a scientist, and Rover was the perfect test subject for his experiment, and that was to create a cybernetically enhanced dog. Before you ask, no he was not gonna clone Rover and take over the world, it was just a one off. Make Rover into a new dog, that's it. A better, faster, stronger dog than he was before—wait no that's just the Six Million Dollar Man. But regardless, this new Rover was super enhanced, able to process things quickly with an enhanced AI, run at Greyhound speeds, carry 500 times his own weight, you get the point.
As for his love for robotics, they gained a TREMENDOUS boost. Seeing as he himself is a robot now, he was living out his wildest dreams! And with upgraded paws that can actually grab stuff, he was able to make a robot of his own, Vanessa.  Shortly after building her however, Rover got a call from a company about a lucrative deal, and with his newly profound abilities, how could he pass up such an opportunity? And so he bid farewell to the family that had raised him since he was born. He set up an office in the RyderTech's, the company's, building, and immediately got to work on his cool projects. Several months flew by, and about a year later, he branched off from the main company and unveiled a massively ambitious project he had conceived since he first accepted the offer; a company centered around creating robot dogs.
Project Geareon, as it was known, was to be the latest big-brand tech company on the block. Barely even a week into its conception, already there were hundreds, if not thousands of people queueing up to get a Geareon of their own. It may have been a little overstrained for Rover at the time, however the little doggo that could managed to effectively give the people what they needed in a reasonable timeframe. As time went on, the Project eventually branched off from RyderTech, going from being a subsidiary to its own independent company. What was so interesting about the Project, now rebranded as ProGear, was that its entire workforce was made up of the very robots that were manufactured by it, which in turn work the machines that manufacture more bots, some of which stay, the others are shipped off as pets.
And speaking of pets, Rover himself has a family too! Vanessa was his very first bot, and regarded as the eldest daughter. Though the majority of ProGear was made by its own machines, Rover sometimes made bots with his own caring paws. Notably Roveon,  a youngster who often plays mostly harmless pranks on his siblings (and is currently my mascot), Carol,  the youngest of Rover's self-built bots (and is based off of my friend's other mascot, Cy-9 ) as well as others like Victor and Lavera.  He loved each of them, not to mention the possibly millions of bots that his company made that are out there in the world. To them, Rover was like a father. Someone who told them what to do and how to do it. To Rover, his bots are his cherished children. It may sound a little strange, but it's true. And he wouldn't have it any other way.
