The design, I decided to push more in the direction of Caribou due to the thich antlers included in the design. The daintiness of a smaller deer didn't seem to fit such a creature, so picking a LARGE, powerful caribou seemed just right while still staying true to the nature of the design. I immediately also thought of possible companions of such a large and mythical beast, whether it was one allowed to ride upon his back or run beside him.

What immediately came to mind is some sort of fae. Instead of picking your traditional fae with fluttering wings, I went with a childlike creature who was capable of running barefoot through the wilderness and keep pace with a galloping caribou. I immediately thought of a little forest girl with an A-line dress of furs and an elfish hood carrying a bow. She became a fellow guardian, running beside her mythical caribou companion to protect their swampish forest home.

This also doubled to test some new art supplies I picked up- winsor and newton pigment markers. The results were interesting, and I have it fully documented step by step with a review of the material on my blog here:
