Description Let me tell y'a story all about how
My life got flip turned upside down.

When I was three I wanted to be a ballerina. A lot of three year olds do.
I wanted to be prima ballerina for the Royal Canadian Ballet. I wanted to dance en point.
I had books and books on the subject and would practice by nightlight well into the night. I walked on the points of my shoes until my dance instructor warned me that I could destroy my feet and never dance again if I kept it up.
I wanted to be Posy Fossil.

I grew up in a small logging village with a few slightly bigger towns north and south of me. We'd drive south for me to dance once or twice a week with the only person who taught until she moved.
I did not become a ballerina, I became a giant.
This shoot was a magnificent blast of nostalgia and accomplishment for me mostly thanks to the wonderful team I worked with.

The absolutely genius Leah LaFontaine made a magnificent sleek bun from my shoulder length hair, two socks and a shit-ton of hair spray.
The lovely Kate Vass gave me some enviable cheek bones (which is to say, the cheek bones of both my brothers, who I envy) and was really just a pleasure to work with. She is a funny lady and we have very similar general philosophies.
And of course, Suzanne who captures me like no other. That's got to be some kind of soul mate right there.

Anyways, TL;DR, little girl wants to be a ballerina, can't, sets up shoot 12 years later and almost bawls her eyes out when she sees herself in full hair, make up and wardrobe because she looks like "a real ballerina".
I hope my poses did this justice. More images to follow.
