Description My attempt at photographing a spider web along the banks of the Green River this morning.

I was trying to keep from slipping down the bank into the river as I took this so it was really hard to get it in focus -- had to manually focus as the camera wouldn't *see* it -- and my lens is decidedly NOT a macro lens.

Regardless. I think this is the sharpest of the bunch in terms of focus. What I think is really neat is that each little drop of water is a perfect inverted reflection of the view across the river: The river bank, trees and sky.

it's beautiful.. gives a sense of fragility and all..
and i love how you pointed out the reflection of each drop.. i probably wouldn't have noticed it otherwise.. and the reflection just makes the picture all the more interesting

This has got to be one of my favourite shots in your gallery. The detail and shine on the beads of water is really gorgeous. They almost look suspended in air. I could see this in a magazine...or a calendar or something. It's really beautiful!

Every time I go through to delete old deviations, I ALMOST delete this one but then never do. I'm glad now that I left it

Now, how did you force yourself to stay calm knowing that the spider could be dropping onto your head while you took that shot?

Teehee. I'm so mean. I know how sensitive you are about spiders.

Anyway, great focus job. I can't manually focus my camera, so when I take shots of spider webs I have to let my camera focus on something the right distance away and hold the shutter button while I position myself for the shot. As you can imagine, it's not a very exact science and I have to take several shots to ensure that one of them will be decent.

I never would have noticed that you could see an image in the dew drops. One of the many wonders that people sometimes miss. That is a great charm in your photography, your vision. Thank you for sharing.

What a nice comment

I didn't see a spider near the web when I took the photo so I wasn't too freaked about it. Now that you mention it however ... *twitch*

I didn't really notice the reflections at the time. It was like opening a present, later, to find that.

My old 2.1mp camera would probably have taken a better shot of this than my Canon, because it has a wider aperture in macro mode.

However I'm pleased with it; and I'm glad that you liked it. Keep trying! I find all sorts of new things when trying to do something else
