Description The Killing of Leah Kathleen

Judas betrays jesus with a kiss.
This pretty much says it all
The sky is very very warm.. but not in a good way. The rainbow symbol is not longer together but in separate small parts. There is a foreshadowing of one last destination.
Buried under the ground are past beliefs.
Taurus- the golden bull that the “Christian god” was angry about when people were worshiping it. Zeus- a past belief that everyone agreed on 1000’s of years ago.. now replaced time and time again with new names and symbols Hercules =Jesus
Adam and eve= Pandora opening the box of sin etc..
A crown.. because some kings and queens have been worshiped as god.. these are 3 different types of worship.. one toward a statue, one towards an invisible person who throws lightning bolts, and one towards a mere mortal man thought to be immortal.
Again I’m comparing faiths right next to science because right above the buried believe is the evolution of weapons: the primitive staff, the acclaimed sword of the bloody mid evil ages, the more civilized yet still barbaric pith fork and of course the modern hand gun; which is in the hands of a small child. The child is slowly filling up with black and now shares the same thoughts as the rest of the others (in the condemning the colors of her thoughts were reversed) she has half of a female sign in her head.. maybe if she acts out on the beliefs she was taught then she would feel more secure about her gender role and feel more accepted by society. Hmm.. then maybe she’ll gain a full female sign. she represents school hate crimes. RIP Lawrence King.
Two of the men have angry symbols of Satanism above their head… tisk tisk.. yet again a Christian is getting all dramatic and calling everything unfamiliar a Satanist.
And then of course you have the woman who speaks ignorance. Then entire upper right section ills me. She is bowing to a slanted cross with the blood of others on her hands thinking about how much she loves her god. Raising her bloody hands to this god. Mocking her in the back is a space ship saying that her god is nothing but a falsehood built upon aliens(society’s expectations)
There are balloons tied down to the crosses symbolizing the ones who want to seek other beliefs and ways of thinking but are tied down by the cross because the cross does not like to be questioned. There you have the fish again. one is tied down symbolizing how some really want to love someone who is different but are tied down by the fear of their own religion.

We have the devil.. umm.. nothing special about him.. he isn’t even highlighted with gold or silver like the past beliefs… is he really there? There a sign.. it’s sort of comic relief. Well at least in my head it is.. everyone keeps suggesting this fire.. ooooo fire!! Send them to the fire! And lol.. well.. there’s the sign with the fire on it.. we must be in the right place and scene.
Then there is the fire. It’s white instead of black.. ever thought of what would happen if a silhouette was covered in white? Oh yeah! You’re totally right.. it would disappear and become non existent.
This is why I hate the other woman so much. This is why she does not have a name or deserve the time in order for me to think of one. Did she really love Leah Kathleen? Did she? I know she gave Leah k her heart and yes the heart was white.. but so is that devil down there. Was it a different white? Was it real? To put Leah K in the fire like that.. to not try to fight harder..
Or was it for Leah k’s own good? Did leah K *ask* her to do it instead of being put to death by some Ignorant. Did Leah K tell the other woman to live on and move on. Did leah k love the other woman so much that she thought it would be best to set her free by saying goodbye?
I don’t know.. these characters have formed into something so much bigger than me.. I made them up but they have become something of their own. Something that I can’t even understand.

This pieces upsets me and resonates with me all at once. I've got nothing profound to add--just that it all fits together really well. For whatever reason, the little girl who is most likely slowly becoming hateful (despite not even really understanding what she's giving in to, I'm sure), is most striking to me. I can remember those loud and obnoxious preachers who showed up each semester at Southeastern and LSU to shout "whore!" at random people and screech about homosexuality being sin. They always had young children with them, and you could see this inner conflict--the kids weren't born hating anyone, but they were basically being forced into it at an early age and there was almost no other way to go. They won't always choose that path, but as you said, it's the easiest thing to do, and it'll make them fit more neatly into the evangelical sect of society their parents favor. Anyway, wanted to say that you're quite talented and I appreciate everything I've seen here so far.

The symbolism and composition are wonderful. Everything fits together so well.
May I ask what medium you used for the background?

I love this entire series... it has everything I love, surrealism, almost paper puppet like silhouettes, gay rights support and a strong message. Just gorgeous I stared at this for a good long while! You've got all the figures on the dot as well, your anatomy is marvellous!

I really love this, it's so powerful. Clinging to your love as she falls into the flames, her back to those that disagree. Even if they stab her in the back, she will cling to her love to keep her from falling. Very very powerful.

This is freaking intense. The sorrow, the anger, the regret, I can feel all of the negative emotions coming from this picture. So powerful.
