Solar Strife The Wasted Chances:
A request be HeliosMegistos and a sequel to this map set over four hundred years in the future. Also includes a slight crossover with the Psychoverse, also requested by HeliosMegistos.
The Year is 2341, the Second World War has been raging on a cold simmer for over four centuries and there is no sign of an end in sight. By some miracle the great powers have managed to avoid obliterating one another with their, now ridiculous, arsenals of weapons of mass destruction though counter measures do help things.
It has been a hectic period since the 21st Century and the world has stood upon the brink of destruction several times, only barely catching itself.
The increased modernisation of India and China began to change the dynamics of the war as the low level skirmishing they engaged in finally started to take a more costly toll on their enemies. The new losses that Japan, the Commonwealth and the Third Reich suffered led to a new increase in militarisation that started a new great arms race. With the great powers devoting more resources to the slightly renewed war effort, the strains the Second World War were causing finally began to take their toll.
In 2113 the Third Reich, now pushed to the limits of its human and natural resources, began to fray at the edges. The SS ruling class, who had become increasingly divisive and corrupt over the past century, began to turn on one another. Ideological divisions created deep hostilities between the emerging political factions within the Third Reich. As the SS began to turn on itself their tensions with the Wehrmacht and the Kriegsmarine also intensified. It was in the 2120s that the Third Reich fell apart. A coup was orchestrated by SS reformers that partially succeeded and led to the various factions and subdivisions of the SS turning on one another. The Reich's own weapons of mass destruction were turned towards their own lands and the great cities of the Nazi Empire burned or were turned to ash in an instant. The third Reich crumbled and fell apart, generals and SS personnel declared themselves Fuhrer, puppet states rose up and neighbouring states invaded.
The fall of a major power simply made things more complicated. The great Scramble for Europe saw the old Nazi dominion divided between whichever great powers could make it there first, with the exception of Italy. In space the Nazis were able to hold their own and remained both independent and powerful, surprisingly.
By 2341 probably one of the most powerful superstates on Earth is the Republic of India. Since their rise to power the Indians have tried to expand their realm. However like all other great powers what they witnessed during the Nazi Civil War and the rise of the American Empire, when the true power of modern weapons of mass destruction was demonstrated, they are not yet willing to actually begin a conflict just yet. The collapse of the Third Reich saw the single largest phase of expansion in the world take place and India made sure that it got as much as it possible could, beating the Commonwealth to much of West Asia and even carving a destructive path through the remnants of the Balkans.
India is still a totalitarian society centred around their unique military based caste-system. Intentional restrictions on technology and education help keep the castes in their place and prevent dissent from developing. Mental screening, a recent innovation in the Republic, is used annually in order to determine the loyalty and value of the population. This system is immense and bloated to the point of counter-productivity but it helps keep people cowed through fear of having their innermost thoughts discovered and assessed. Vast security surveillance systems that can scan retinas, facial profiles, heat signatures and anything else on record hat can be used to assess a person's identity and mental state are ubiquitous. Cameras and recording devices are planted in every room of every home and are carefully maintained by a brand new technician caste that are specially trained to fix and improve these devices without being discovered. Fear keeps the whole thing together, fear of discovery, fear of the internment camps in the mountains and fear of what the government's psychics will do to you should you be regarded as disloyal.
The psychic population of India, has also been sub-stratified into their own caste-system based on the strength of their abilities. They are indoctrinated from birth with psychological, educational and cybernetic means that are designed to make them slavishly loyal to the Republic. They are are largely used to screen the minds of the population to determine who are dissidents in the city. However military service is still very common.
The people of the West Asian and European territories have been incorporated into a series of auxiliary sub-castes. The cultural disdain for foreign cultures prevents the people of these new imperial territories from being allowed to join the actual Indian caste system. The new territories, even after several centuries of occupation are still policed through extreme and militant methods. Large numbers of Indian troops are stationed in these territories and many are given leave to abuse their authority in order to pacify the native populations. Settlements are segregated into Indian and indigenous sectors with the Indian regions being fortified (but no less oppressive for their inhabitants) against the immense districts that house the West Asian and European peoples that populate these regions. Entire districts can and often are levelled and purged if the mere suspicion of housing rebels falls on them. Propaganda subjects the population to a message of their own inferiority, the purity of the new regime and the moral services they must provide through their subjugation. Even though their own leaders and superiors abuse them the colonists from India are encouraged to look down on these sub-castes and regard them with disdain, encouraging solidarity in the Indian population at the same time.
Religion is slowly being phased out by the worship of the state and it's ideology. The caste system is supposedly unquestioned and confidence in the ability and ideological purity of the ruling classes is encouraged by the government.
Despite all these measures the Republic of India is struggling. The various surveillance systems they have built are still not infallible and resistance groups have been able to organise themselves. The state's security forces have been still very capable in rooting out most resistance organisations and keeping potential ones from rising up. However this has simply served to entrench the hard-liners and the brutality is only serving to expand the resistance movement's viability. The largest and most 'successful' groups are mostly socialist. However after all of the purges, witch-hunts and other atrocities, these groups have become very radical, often bordering on cult-like devotion to their glorious revolution.
China, despite having a border with the Third Reich, failed to grab any territory from the collapse of the Nazi empire. In a world where the last great land grab helped redefine the balance of power, they have lost a lot of prestige as a result of this. The Empress, whose ancestors made cybernetic modification, mostly to increase mental capacity and processing power, a tradition, is still the absolute ruler of his empire. Worried about the unrest that has started to plague her empire, she has begun to initiate new measures to ensure compliance. Mental screening is now a regular process that all members of any civil service, including law enforcement and medical services, must undergo in order to remain employed. Mental screening cannot be extended to the entire population due to the impracticality of such an endeavour but new systems designed to monitor are being built and expanded as much as possible. The aristocracy, descendants of the original psychics that came with the Chinese contingent, retain strict control over their provinces. Some of the more extreme ones even mentally dominate the population as much as they possibly can or feed suggestions into their minds to manipulate them.
China has still managed to make itself into a manufacturing giant and does export to several of the other states. So far their most successful economic venture is in the American Empire. The Empress does not care who they trade with and has even accepted contracts with the Italians and the Weltraumreich.
China, like India, has a serious problem with internal unrest. While socialists have either been suppressed or placated by the government a number of other movements have sprung up. Neo-socialists who have combined Maoism with fatalist fanaticism into a very disturbing ideology. These rebels are devoted to obliterating the psychics that threaten the true equality of humanity. After a lot of hard work and violent insurgency they have managed to capture and steal several manufacturing facilities that provide them with better weaponry than other rebel organisations. They have also managed to transport several of their cells offworld to China's, rather extensive, extraterrestrial colonies. Thanks to several innovative mental disciplinary techniques they have been able to keep themselves safe from detection by psychics.
Brazil was almost too slow to exploit the collapse of the Nazi Empire but they were able to grab a few little odds and ends in Western Europe. Despite the destructive collapse of the Nazis, the rise of new and more terrible successors and the Rise of the American Empire, the Brazilians have in fact become relatively moderate. Brazil's government is by no means democratic but the political Party that now rules, which evolved from the old military government, does at least put a fair amount of effort into being benevolent despots. Their society is still very elitist however and social mobility remains very difficult. However, with more open trade with Japan and the Commonwealth the standards of living have risen. Brazilian corporations still have very poor working conditions and still consider the working class cheaper and more expendable than robots but methods are being taken by the government to change this. Their space program saw a new intensification in the last century and there are many new offworld facilities. Unfortunately they are too late to achieve anything other than a subordinate position to the Commonwealth and have leases on nearly all their territories.
Japan expanded enough in the 22nd Century to satisfy the imperialists and keep the empire busy consolidating what they had gained. Surprisingly, this was the beginning of a very slow period of further moderation within their own political system. The expansion of trade and communication with nations such as Brazil and the Commonwealth also exacerbated this political change.
The Empire of Japan, whilst still very stratified and rather racially exclusive, is rather moderate. Unfortunately this moderation is also the result of successful cultural indoctrination of most of the colonies and the stabilisation of the colonial governments. Most of the indigenous populations, that haven't been granted status as culturally indoctrinated, are still seen as marginally inferior citizens in the Empire and are forbidden from moving to the Home Islands and other areas that are regarded as important settler colonies. Traditionalism disappeared and reappeared over the centuries and currently, the nation is undergoing another phase of liberalisation from reimposed cultural traditionalism. Militarisation has been reduced in the culture at large though hard work are held in high regard amongst the working population. A new counter-cultural youth movement has sprung up that is growing in significance and taking elements from foreign cultures, specifically the Commonwealth. The current leadership is still rather conservative but some of these new ideas are beginning to infiltrate into their ranks as well.
The Japanese may not be leading the high-technology race but they have done magnificent jobs in reverse engineering the technology of the 23rd Century. Now they are even refining what they were given by the time travellers and are even making new innovations based on what they had. The Japanese have expanded their space program over the centuries and established numerous territories in the Asteroid Belt an on Mars. Japanese orbital fortresses and platforms can be found around Earth, Mars and Titan.
Despite the increased pressure from enemies both within and without, the Commonwealth has been able to retain its own moral and cultural integrity with regards to its political system. The Commonwealth has undergone numerous reforms over the centuries. The ongoing centralisation movement and the near-collapse during the upheavals of the Nazi Civil War slowly erased old borders, a process that was made apparent during the massive internal reorganisation that redraw most of the internal divisions (many still question this decision). The political make-up of the Commonwealth is that of a federal superstate and whilst it does acknowledge and honour every individual member states cultural autonomy they are all now required to work through the same constitution. The house of Windsor serve as honorary monarchs of the Commonwealth as a whole but they have little actual power over the political system. A rather significant welfare system, enshrined in the Commonwealth's constitution, helps support the population in terms of education and medical treatment. However objections from more conservative cultures have allowed for little more than that. Even then this system provides phenomenal support to the population of the Commonwealth.
Africa is the economic centre of the Commonwealth thanks to the Weltraum Reich's actions which have made extraterrestrial manufacturing too dangerous to employ on a large scale. Great Britain and the old dominions are still the centres of finance and the economic hubs that help coordinate the new relationships within the Commonwealth and with the Brazilians and Japanese as well. On the whole the nation is prosperous and liberal (by the standards of the TL of course) but the increasing instability due to hyper-nationalist uprisings, terrorist groups from abroad and other calamities have led to an increase in government and military control. The surveillance system, whilst nothing like their counterparts in other nations, is still massive and rather worrying to some people. Fears concerning this welfare system are considered antiquated by some people but for the most part the very real threat of Neo-Boers, Irish Separatists, the Sons of Liberty and the rival empires justifies such extreme monitoring. Public fear of terrorism has led to a restriction on political rallying though debates and speeches are still allowed. Supporters of unorthodox movements in the political right tend to suffer from these new laws but the more radical political left have also begun to feel restricted now that neo-socialist groups have started to cause trouble.
The Commonwealth presence in space is second only to the sprawling Weltraum Reich. A network of outposts, bases, automated facilities and settlements, both orbital and terrestrial, can be found across the Inner Solar System. All of these facilities are heavily defended due to the presence of the German remnants but restrictions on travel have eased up somewhat (strip searching is no longer mandatory though it isn't forbidden either).
When the Nazi Empire collapsed the Kriegsmarine in space moved very quickly. Several SS members did try to take control of the massive Nazi Empire that existed offworld in space. However the leader of the Kriegsmarine, a radical who was tired of SS domination, was able to rally nearly every soldier off Earth and slaughtered the SS before they could muster any response. From there the Kriegsmarine went on to quell rebellion, take control of every German facility off Earth and reorganize the remnant of the Third Reich into a new entity.
The Weltraum Reich is a neo-feudal military dictatorship. The officers of the Kriegsmarine are the new aristocracy and rule over their own respective fiefs on behalf of High Command. The distances between Reich territories and the time it takes to travel between them ensure the autonomy over each individual base. Fear of the other powers, especially now that they too are moving out into space, keeps the whole thing together. The fact that the High Command on the Moon also control the Reich's arsenal of long-distance superweapons also keeps the other territories compliant and obedient. The people of the Weltraum Reich are organized and disciplined along military lines. Every adult male is liable for conscription, a measure that is made easier by the necessity to be trained in some form of engineering. All permanent Reich settlements are built to accommodate Earth conditions in order to prevent weakening of physical structures. Whilst the High Command no longer believes in racial theory and eugenics they want to keep the population in good physical condition in case of war.
Even when compared to the disaster of the Third Reich there is one nation that has really changed since the 21st Century. The United States of America continued down the same path it had been travelling for decades but barely ten years ago, everything changed. In one of the immense sprawling slum complexes in California a girl was born, her name was Persphone Eosopoulou. Funnily enough, unlike most other psychic children, Persephone was disregarded and ignored by the government once she manifested her powers. In secret she honed her skills, her resentment and anger at the United States growing with every passing year. Persephone was barely a teenager when she began to make her move but her decisions changed the very face of the world and brought an empire to its knees.
Persephone walked up to the nearest government psychic facility and almost immediately exerted total mental dominance over them. With a small army of psychics under her control she conquered the entire state. From there she cut a swathe of destruction through the United States, subjugating millions and bringing every psychic she could find under her dominance. With every psychic she took control of, her power and influence grew. It took a long time and the USA lost a few pieces of vulnerable territory but Persephone finally subjugated the United States, finishing her conquest with the final surrender of America's extraterrestrial colonies.
The United States of America is dead. In its place is the Empire of the New World. Persephone, never the most stable individual, found the immense power in her hands now made her beholden to no-one within her borders. She then set about rebuilding her new nation into whatever she wanted, harnessing its immense power to remodel the entire nation. The Empire of the New World is covered in strange architecture. The megacities, damaged in the revolution, have been rebuilt as stylish arcologies, built with Ancient Greek aesthetics. Massive complexes loom over the cities that appear like futuristic versions of Greek temples and amphitheatres. Statues of the Empress are everywhere. A bust of the Empress is required in every home and must be kept clean and presentable. A failure to keep a certain standard of cleanliness will lead to punishment though what is done to a criminal tends to vary depending on the judiciary. Alongside these statues are those of certain Greek deities and titans that Persephone believes she embodies. Terrible interpretations of Greek mythological beasts have also been commissioned and distributed, Persephone finding a perverse beauty in the disgusting features that have been carved into the rock.
Despite all of this the United States is still an incredibly powerful and productive empire. The cities and industrial complexes have been rebuilt and staffed with people once again, whether it was voluntary or not. Persephone does not necessarily care how her empire is strengthened, only that it is. However she does still intervene in environmental issues, whether she understands the finer points of industry or not. Persephone may allow the urban and industrial sprawl as she understands it necessities but she will also demand that the natural (or unnatural) of the land be preserved as well. Idyllic Greek monuments and structures have sprung up in carefully cultivated valleys and meadows at Persephone's order.
Persephone's rule is enforced through her psychic aristocracy. Every psychic in the empire is taken by Persephone and brought before. They will then be mentally dominated by her and then taken to begin their proper training, Persephone forever in their mind in every way possible. They are extensions of her will, she can see through their eyes at any point and use them to monitor the population. Most terrifyingly of all every psychic she assimilates increases her own power. After ten years she is close to being the god she believes she is. Only the terrible weaponry her enemies possess her own debilitating insanity keep her from declaring war on the rest of the world. After taking control of so many minds and assimilating them into her own she has completely lost her mind. Her identity remains but her perception of reality is now on a completely different level from any human, psychic or otherwise. Her mentality is now indescribable as she does not operate on any human level, making her infinitely greater than human and yet so much less at the same time as her physical body struggles to support her alien mind.
Technology has continued to advance though after finally reaching the levels they had prior to being transported to 1940 the autocratic governments that ran most of the world then doubled down on free thought which did slow down progress once again. The mass exploitation of space was a slow process hampered by fear and constant threats from every power. However the extensive network of bases, satellites and colonies is now unbelievably extensive. The Weltraum Reich perfectly exhibits how much of space humans have been able to successfully adapt to. Robotic probes have even begun to penetrate the Outer Solar System, though most of them are from the Reich.
Laser and microwave weapons are common but only in the form of artillery. Coil and rail weapons are now issued to infantry as standard weapons. Specially trained soldiers in powered armour are now the new knights of any given battlefield and will even wade through enemy fire into close combat with oscillating blades, the act often serving as effective psychological warfare. Mecha of various sizes, ranging from around four times the height of a human to walking castles (that somehow manage to remain surprisingly nimble and agile), dominate the battlefield though they have still not replaced tanks entirely. Every form of aircraft and warship is also equipped with anti-gravity technology that now allows the airforces and navies (essentially the same institutions by this point) to support the armed forces on the battlefield and in logistics. Nanotechnology repairs damages at unbelievably fast rates though the amount of fire-power a serious battle throws around will often negate the impact of such devices rather well. Deflector shields have successfully been compacted thanks to decades of research and are now equipped on anything with a power source to support it from battleships and mecha to tanks and powered armour. AI remains virtually unattainable, largely because the last few attempts to create an independent computerised brain led to it gaining dangerous levels of self awareness. Bio-technology has also seen a lot of investment with weaponised diseases and parasites being developed by ever power. Unfortunately some, like the 'thing' in Antarctica have managed to escape their containment systems and run amok.
In space the Weltraum Reich has actually devoted a lot of resources into FTL travel, hoping to expand their empire by leaving the Solar System for other star systems. All of their experiments have failed, the most successful simply leaving temporary tears in reality that lead to nowhere or swallow ships whole. However whilst progress evades the Germans on their end other beings have noticed. One such experiment did manage to penetrate the veil between realities and transport a ship full of terrified volunteers to another dimension. There they received the attention of some incredibly unsavoury individuals, several of which recognised the Swatstikas they wore and figured out what they were. The denizens of the Coven of the Silver Court have finally learnt all they can from the crew of the Goering and now that the last prisoner has finally expired in agony they are ready to see what they can discover from their homeworld.
Deep in her palace the alien mind of Persephone grows turbulent. She can sense something wrong is on its way but she does not know that her blazing mind only serves as a beacon for the sadistic horde that prepares to descend upon the planet.

I stated in this that the average soldier's weapon would be either a rail gun or a coil gun and I would recommend this be the same for canon Solar Strife. My reasoning for this would be because of power constraints and pentrative power. A laser weapon has to burrow its way into power armour and nanites would probably be working to counteract it every step of the way (and getting cooked but anything to slow down a kill-shot helps). A magnetically propelled round however should be able (with sufficient power behind it) to punch through armour with ease and with enough speed for the nanites abilities to be negated.
Lasers work more on artillery because they would be able to put more power behind them and sustain a much larger and stronger beam, making them more effective than hand-held models.

Right that does make sense, I've always liked coil guns/rail guns as futuristic weapons over energy too although energy weapons can be cool eg Fallouts plasma weapons.
For the armors repair rate I was thinking that it isn't instantanious, it takes about 30 seconds to a minute for light damage depending on how much of it there is with more destructive damage taking longer to repair eg grenade damage might take a good two minutes to restore and eventaually the nanites run out of supplies to make repairs with too.
I'm thinking that combat with infantry and the like consist of slugging it out until kinetic shielding collapses and then agressive going for the kill while it's down as that's when the troops are vulnerable even with their armour which admittedly can take a couple of blows from the average infantry weapon like modern armor can.
Your average power armored soldier however would be packing anti-material rail-guns or even a type of rail-gun minigun that would absolutely wreck unshielded infantry and even vehicles which would be part of the reason for the gradual adoption of mechs/walkers that can have the required ammount of protection and power sources for the really devistating weaponry like the Graviton Gun... .

You know after some consideration if we ever decide to follow this up (via request or otherwise) a whole lot of interesting things could be done with it in light or recent expansion on the Dawnverse and how some of the stuff in it happens.
The Dawnverse had the Breach/the Rift pooring all that exotic energy into it right that fuels it's usual supernatural aspects like the Celestials and various other entities and causes the creation of the Centaurs and others via particularly powerful telepathic thoughts and peoples beliefs interacting with it in a 40k like manner.
Well this world is created by a ftl related event when the Heydrich was destroyed and the fleets were pulled in with it. The same technology as was been researched on Olympus was used with the Heydrich's experimental ftl drive albeit more powerful and even more unstable so this world has to have a breach as well causing all sorts of energy to flow in and supernatural events and the like as it widens over time...
Worthing thinking about.... Persephone could become a full blown malevolent goddess that the world and the witches need to unite against least they be enslaved or worse. Que the Elder One potentially getting drawn into things or even your own All Father or both!

That does present some interesting possibilities.
The Weltraum Reich could produce their Gotterfuhrer which is a deified Hitler mixed with a lot of bizarre mysticism. They could then use it to launch an invasion of Earth from space.
I don't see the Witches teaming up with humanity for anything less than the AllFather. There are a couple of individual Witches who might form alliances but there'll be little real altruism behind it. The Witches have their own god (or a fragment of one) as well. If this rift is pouring energy into the world than its more likely they'll get a powerboost from it.
Now throwing the Elder One in makes things even more difficult. Between the Elder One, Persephone and the Witches I don't see many independent humans surviving.

Same here, as all the Telepaths under this world's Persephone are extensions of her will, been little more then remotely controlled shells with no free will or personality anymore. I don't even want to know whats instore for the Mundanes/Muggles under her control.
The Commonwealth we discussed at one point perhaps merging with the Japanese out of desperation and in a change of pace it could adopt a very Imperium fo Man like attitude and siege mentality making it morally black or a very dark shade of grey. No longer this world's sole ray of light.
China is heading for collapse and India would be the perfect place for the Elder One to set itself up and it's might makes right, survival of the fittest attitude towards it's followers would easily mesh into the pre-existing hell holo the Hindu fanatics have created.
Space Nazi's worshiping a deified Hitler aka the Gotterfuhrer (do keep in mind though that in Solar Strife Hitler was murdered in 1943 by Theodorich Friedmann who is just as revered as Hitler if not more so given he was a telepath and founder of the Friedmann bloodline which runs strong in the SS and virtually ran the Third Reich like a royal dynasty from 1943 to 2164 when the SS and it's Extranormal Division took over), the Witches of the Silver Court and of course whatever the hell the Kriechen Tod is.... this world is doomed.
I imagine fire power and technology wise a single Capitalship from this world is more then capable of doing this kind of destruction on it's own within an hour or three at tops www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYPSg-…

I think the Commonwealth will rally in the Pacific and Southern Africa (with Britain, Canada and maybe Siberia as besieged outlier territories). They'll have to take on an Imperium of Man style attitude to survive (except with telepaths on the top of society rather than being reviled). The arrival of the Witches might have some other nasty side-effects if people ever start to get infected by the energies of their home reality.
I envisioned the Witches of this story getting Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and maybe Brazil and most of India.
Persephone will get the Americas but probably get hemmed in by the Commonwealth and the Empire. They're not expanding territorially (except for bits of Brazil) but they're slowly turning into something else as Persephone manifests servant entities (sort of a cross between the Celestials of the Dawnverse and the Daemons of Warhammer).
The Kriechen Tod has all of Antarctica and has been creeping along the sea floor, slwoly approaching Patagonia and New Zealand.
I've not got the best idea of what to do with the Elder One but I see unpleasant things happening in the turbulent chaos of China after it collapses that he can exploit.
The Weltraum Reich will touch down in Central Asia and Western Russia and set up bases elsewhere as it tries to bring more forces down. They have a weak presence on Earth but are virtually unchallenged in space.
The Gotterfuhrer isn't just Hitler. He is the primary face of the entity as the first Fuhrer but he is a culmination of all the fuhrers including Friedmann and his dynasty.

Sounds delightfully bleak and hopeless
Also my mistake about the Gotterfuhrer, I assumed it was Hitler alone.
What does the KT actually do other then presumably consume everything in it's path?, is it meant to be vague possibly horrific?.
I like the sound of that for Persephone as well, so Greek and Roman and prehaps native american mythological type creatures but daemony like ? with the higher types been like the Celestials but also daemony eg like the greater daemons sort of ?.
As for the Commonwealth that sounds about right. Canada could have been devistated by Persephone's attempt to take it with the alot of the populace retreating to the more northern areas away from the front lines (advanced technology makes these areas inhabitable with ease) since New World Empire forces are able to slip through the heavily fortified border to raid and cause gurrilla havok.
The Canadian-American border could be the mother of all fortififed front lines guarded by massive ammounts of military hardware. A set of massive triple walls dotted with massive fortress/garrison cities is all that keeps the horrors "south of the wall 
Vancouver, Manitoba, Toronto, Montreal would all be massive foundary cities that produce most of the equipment needed for the Churchill Line. The mostly northern emmigrated population toil to produce food and other supplies to feed the military and foundary cities while Anchorage Alaska could be a major Telepathic city for the new Telepath ruling class and their servents and support (Alaska been taken from the New World Empire during the Canadian War) etc

You've more or less read my mind on persephone's servitors (we need a name for them). The lesser ones will look like mythological creatures (along with maybe allusions to mythical warrior groups like the Amazons ro the Myrmidons). The 'Greater Deamons' will look like the Greek gods/Celestials fo the Dawnverse.
The Kriechen Tod is sort of a "slow inevitable death" sort of threat. It's not particularly active but it is constantly moving and requires a lot fo fire-power to hold back. Killing it completely will be almost impossible since the kind of power needed tod o so would cause irreperable damage to the planet (glassing Antarctica and a good chunk of the surrounding ocean from orbit would suffice).
The KT has been slowed because of having to move through the oceans due to the immense pressure but its still made progress.
Originally the Gotterfuhrer was just Hitler but you reminded me of all the other significant fuhrers this Third Reich has had (I never thought I'd say that).

I'm curious as to if in this world Friedmann ended up Fuhrer at all like in the fleets original Solar Strife timeline given that the SS and such eventually overthrew Hitler and many of the incompetents and asserted their own leadership. I mean Friedmann is held in massive respect by the SS and others and the only reason his "dynasty" got removed from outright political power as the Fuhrers is because a certain.... activity... they share with the Eosopoulou took root and even the SS couldn't stomach that. (All the solar Strife powers are extremely careful to take every steep to prevent incest taking root among their Telepaths)
On the sucject of the Commonwealth prehaps Britain could be a fortress frontier as well, a kind of Airstrip One that's always seeing some level of action from the Witches in Europe that suffers constant air-raids and infiltration, large areas are wrecked and in need of constant repair.... like the Gaza Strip on a nation wide scale and with high tech. A few of the bigger cities are massive fortress cities ala Canada with local Telepathic elites governing them and a massive military presence while the commoners suffer and toil for the defensive effort and are monitored telepathically and technologically day and night in the interest of security (unlike 1984 this is the truth, it's not for the parties benefit. It's actually required because of what's going on).
Food and supplies have to be shipped and flown in via the Arctic corridor and are harassed by Persephone and the Witchs and strange otherworldly wildlife and mutations produced by the contamination and breakdown of much of the Earth's environment and ecosystems from pollution and biological contaminants and of course the Heydrich Rift screwing with things (It's already making Telepaths far stronger them the original Solar Strife had and even the Dawnverses tend to be).
A member of the Royal family if it still exist volunteers to spend their life in Britain with the people to show the crown and Commonwealth are still with them and share their struggles and plight. They would the Lord or Lady Protectors and basically glorified govenor generals. The bulk of the government and the crown and such have been relocated to Cape Town or Praetoria however since South Africa is pretty far from the frontlines.

After all in the later phases of Solar Strife the Martian Empire has suceeded in drastically expanding the Human lifespan to close to 250 years for the average person and around about 500 or more for the elites who can afford the top of the line medical care and genetic enhancments to do so Aging is slowed down to with rapid decline in body fuction and health only setting in in the last two or three decades. People stay in their prime and youth for over a century now and women menopause has been drastically pushed back for example.
Most cancers and some of the worst health problems and genetic defects have also been erradicated or a now curable and it's mainly lifestyle and new disases that are the issue eg heart attacks and strokes which even then are reduced and far less fatal due to integration of synthetic nanites more advanced then the Eosopoulou carry in their blood in most people (no biological immortality yet though, thats a Dawnverse fluke among the "Vampires" and kin for now).
And this is without getting into the Jovians (Imagine a rage of people as tought as Space Marines of Captain America!) and the highly derived descendants of the Third Reich who fleed Sol for the unknown depths of space during the Crisis after the Third Solar Strife. (The Sions as these Nazi descendants are called have split them selfs into several closely related races in a caste system with Homo Superior which are the descendants of the Telepathic elite as the leadership cast and the most human looking unlike say the four armed Warrior caste or the thick skined six armed Praetorians and so on.)

This is a detail I'm not really sure about. I think this is something that I think is more dependent on what you want in it. I personally am fine with the Martian advances at wiping out dieseases and physical defects and extending the life-span of the average human exponentially.
Now the more extreme stuff you mention with the Jovians and Sions is a bit much for me, at least as far as the follow up goes. I think that in a world where the Commonwealth is being attacked by inhuman monstrosities (Persephone's telepathic constructs and the Witches' servitors) that humans wouldn't really be that comfortable with turning themselves into increasingly non-human forms. That does actually give me an interesting idea of a splinter human GM faction of supersoldiers that have over-done their own modifications, look horrific and broke off under their own nation after the Commonwealth placed a ban on ecessive genetic technology.

That's actually what I was considering as well, the splinter human GM faction that is. Perhaps at one point the Commonwealth heavily used it to create creatures to repair damaged ecosystems and for medical and warfare but when people started openly taking it to other levels like redesigning Humanity entirely the Commonwealth and it's leadership clamped down on it for both the reasons you mentioned and fear of becoming like the Nazi (pretty much in line with as you said banning excessive genetic technology) as well as the Telepathic elite pragmatically not wanting any threats to their own positions in society)

I imagined the GM faction to be sort of an early weapon back when the Witches first landed. As they improved themselves their modifications became more excessive and potentially unstable and finally they were outlawed due to the dangers of having such a powerful group in power (of course ignoring the fact that most of the leaders are telepaths).

Hmm prehaps a combination, he wasn't able to fully awaken from his slumber because of Persephone focusing a significant proportion of her vast power to keep him in a continued state of hybernation.
This drain on her energy the resulting need to have alot of her subjects sustain her via long term prayer and hymns and such (a deity in the Dawnverse or one caused by the breachs/rifts gets stronger and regains power more quickly the more believers it has and the more prayers and rituals it's offered and so on) has two effects.
It reduces the amount of effort the Empire of the New World is putting into it's war efforts and prevents Persephone for unleashing her full might as she is constantly giving energy to reinforce the Elder One's slumber.
This is also making her desperate and her attacks more frantic (but less effective) as what she is doing is not a long term fix and buys the world between 300 to 400 years at most.
The Elder One himself has a fully awakened mind but due to Persephone can't actually take the final steeps to awaken. Instead it invades the dreams and thoughts of vulnerable and isolated Telepaths and the weak, hopeless and discontented and either convinces them to join it or breaks them and remakes them as agents of its will.
Essentially like Chaos Cultist and small chaos incursions in Warhammer Fantasy and War Hammer 40k. In a bleak world it's offer is quite tempting and seductive despite the high price involved because it's followers believe they can usher in a new world where the meak inherit the world and rule as the Elder One's champions and such. The strongest and most wrothy will rise to the top and dominate the rest.
The Elder One's ultimate goals long term are never meant to be covered although give it a few million years and the Astraeverse as we know it will be ushered into a second darkness like that in the Time Before Time.
If it takes controll of the Earth however it will keep it around as a kind of personal fiefdom for it's own purposes with the result best been described as a social darwinist nightmare where might makes right and the strongest rise to dominate and subjegate the weak and fight and compete in the Elder Ones name and aginst eachother for greater and greater power with a select few becoming it's immortal heralds in a process similar to becoming a Daemon in 40k like some Chaos Space Marines do.

It's based around a quicker technological advancement following WWII going closer to otl due to Theodorich Friedmann miscalculating in his plot to coup and assassinate Adolf Hitler and having less support from the military leading to himself and Hitler both dying and Himmler taking over and royally screwing up (purges and such!) giving the Soviets massive gains. The Soviets annex Finland and Poland, all of Germany becomes their united puppet state and the have to be coaxed out of the Low Countries, Denmark and the parts of France and Italy the held with massive concessions in China (good bye Mao!) and the money in OTL used for marshal aid redirected towards them to help rebuild (extorting essentially).
Things went wrong in 1973 and Humanity has had to recover from a largely non-nuclear holocaust (orbital energy and kinetic bombardment based weapons with a few nukes thrown into the mix). Mankind is no longer on the brink and will be unable to ever unleash such destruction again but in the 600-1200 years since "the Scorching" new problems and rivalries have arisen as the past has been forgotten and is only remembered as a mythic era and the few remaining old issues and disputes gain new life.
Forget the horror of the Nazi's or the Red Menace, Telepaths (occasionally) and the various new species that have arrisen since the Scorching are the new nightmares and boogeymen! in a world where a Lunar based A.I named Persephone tightly monitors the world and posses as various deities!

How horrific do you think a Solar Strife timeline where the Soviet Union has engulfed most of mainland Europe (with the exception of Southern Italy, Spain, Portugul, the UK and Greece) and Asia under a massive network of puppet states would be. A Soviet Union that realized early on how useful Telepaths were and lead by some suspiciously similar to Yuri who ruled through a puppet Stalin for some time and then cast took power for themselve ?.
In this world Germany suffered a nasty civil war in the 20's between communist, nazi's and the eventually victorious monarchist lead by an alternate Theodorich Friedmann (the Telepath who in most Solar Strife timelines offs between 1941 and 1943 Hitler and becomes Fuhrer) that decided the Nazi's were lunatics and wasn't as cynical and pragmatic as side effect. The resulting damage weakens Germany and leaves Europe weak and vulerable to the Soviets when they begin offensive operations in 1946 to spread the World Revolution.
Meanwhile the United States has fallen to a form of facist/corporatist military aristocracy based around strong men leaders and a cult of personality started by McArthur following a incredibly horrible redscare in the late 30's and early 40's that nearly tore the nation apart due to FDR never getting elected due to Long not been killed and thus dividing the democratic vote.

Still if we do get any surviving 'heroes' then it will be Britain, the remnants of the French Empire, Spain, Portugal, whatever bits of South America that can be saved from fascist America and the Japanese (who would still be under the imperial government but would probably be placated with bits of territory here and there like Indonesia and China).
The USSR would likely use its psychics, who would be indoctrinated by the state the moment their abilities are discovered, to monitor the population for ideological dissidence and disloyalty. Others would be specialised in spreading revolutionary ideas (those they approve of anyway) throughout the lands of their enemies.

Even Britain isn't really a hero this time around. It's the least bad but like the rest of the Free World (I use the very term loosely) Democracy, freedom of speech, freedom of religion and freedom of ideology are largely disredited by their global failure and the ever present threat of global Communism and the various movements it backs with arms and funds etc.
The United States and pretty much all of Latin America are fascistic albeit with variations eg America is a aristocratic junta for lack of a better term and rather spartanic. Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean are outright puppets while Argentina is ruled by a Peron (a title much like Fuhur and Duce now) etc.
Brazil is a democracy but I use the term loosely and is precariously balanced it's the military junta of the American style and a rich oligarchy both waiting to take over if it's managed Democracy fails.
Spain ended up like otl but when Franco died the King didn't democratize the country as in otl or rather he did but it's a managed democracy like Brazil with a strong presence from the Catholic Church felt everywhere of course lingering elements of Franco's rule such as the military having a say in things as well. Portugul has taken an interesting turn in the monarchy has been restored and but is powerless as again a fascistic group is in control and the church also has the same kind of presence as it does in Spain.
Italy has retained the monarchy (It's after all comprised of the South, Sicily, Corsica which were in otl the parts most in favor of keeping it when it was abolished) and taken a path similar to Spain including managed Democracy and the catholic church been present etc. Libya is majority Italian and catholic and Corsica was annexed when France fell but before the North fell. The fascist party is discredited because it performed so badly during the Soviet Invasion.
Greece is an interesting case, it's a managed democracy but the Monarchy actually runs things and with a good degree of competence and while the military is involved in things as well it's not dictating or incompetent like the historical Junta, that been said it's endured a horrific communist caused civil war during the 50's and before that barely repelled the Soviets with help from the British military and the free German Army and the Yugoslav government in exile. Turkey was invaded at around the same time but fell with the British retaining control of some coastal pockets and Instanbal/Constantinople which were later turned over to Greece as there was no viable Turkish exile government and the Greeks had played a large role in helping keep the Soviets out. Cyprus eventually united with Greece as well so it's a fairly significant power in the Med now when you factor in these acquisitions.
France is based in Africa now and has a Bonaparte ruling things for the third time and has decentralized itself into a mirror of the Commonwealth (sort of) to survive...

China fell to Communism but not under Mao who ended his days as target practice for the Soviets. Manchuria, Outer-Mongolia and East-Turkestan/Xinjiang annexed into the USSR outright while the rest if a massive puppet state with North Korea levels of failure and famine that the Soviets are beginning to tire of propping up. Hong Kong is British and Macao as well along with a handful of other coastal enclaves.
Japan retains Korea and Taiwan and the islands it had before WWII but I haven't really though about much else. It's military was bleed white fighting first the Chinese and then the Soviets and it's navy was all that kept the Soviets out when the hit Korea in force. No Tojo government given that Japan probably didn't go on a conquering spree due to no WWII to distract Britain and such. In short i'm still working this part out.
India is ruined. In 1953 Gandhi and other independence leaders got sick of waiting for independence and the ongoing emergency government and martial law in place during the Soviet War. A massive continent wide civil war broke out with pro Raj-forces including most of the princes and rajahs siding with the British and the I.N.C fighting against them with Soviet backing. Eventually the Soviets entered via Pakistan after Iran was conquered and the Commonwealth forces were forced to pull back in the south of the continent where the new borders where drawn when cease fire was declared in 1955-1956 following the detonation of the Commonwealths first atomic bomb over Leningrad in a daring air attack that forced the Soviets to back off (they developed their own nukes just scant months later).
After that India was purged of people like Ghandi who wouldn't toe Moscows line and then broken up into a number of peoples republics while the Commonwealth held south is divided into three princely realms or so that are all tied into the Commonwealth.
And your about right about the three-way although I might make it a four way depending on Japan's fate. It's A Soviet Communist bloc vs an American Corporatist/Facistic Junta bloc and a Anglo-French pan European (minus Portugul) Monarchist-Democratic bloc with a potential East Asian Co-Prosperity sphere thrown in potentially although I'm not exactly leaning in that direction given I like the idea of Indonesia been a complicated mess ruled by the Dutch Government in Exile much like the Congo is a complicated mess under the Belgian one.
Persephone was born very early on in this world but is simply a very powerful Telepath and a Canadian to boot. I should mention that quite a few parts of the Commonwealth have broken off such as Egypt and that due to a failed invasion and massive bombing campaigns the UK is not the head of the Commonwealth, Canada is and the monarchy is in Ottawa........

I would leave it as a three-way Cold War with Japan as a neutral independent power. They don't really have any opportunities to expand since the Soviets have China, the Americans have the Philippines and the British pretty much run the rest of East Asia and the West Pacific so there won't really be any chances for a GEACPS to develop.
If Egypt is gone then what is the Middle East like? If the Saudis and the Iranian Shahs haven't been overthrown they are more likely to align with the British.

Iraq fell although it was their own fault as the King was trying to play both sides to remain independent. Syria and Lebanon fell to a Soviet invasion as well much like Iran as mentioned before as Iran was the gateway to India.
Yemen and Oman are still around but I don't know much about them, same for the UAE and Qatar. The Saudi's were overthrown in a soviet backed revolutiona and then the British carried out a police action to restore order. The interior is largely split up along tribal lines with the coastal area with Mecca and such granted to the Hasemites. Jordan owns Palestine and is a buffer state to help between Egypt and the Soviets and helps Britain retain control of the Canal.
Ethiopia is still a kingdom or empire or whatever and controls the entire horn.
Indo-China broke with France and is comprised of the traditional nations it became in otl. I'm toying with them maybe aligning with Japan or the Commonwealth.
Burma is still Commonwealth much like Malaysia.
Not sure what to do with Nigeria and and French coastal colonies, probably parts of the two Commonwealths as usual given that Communism hasn't penetrated Africa. Africa itself has much larger white populations and mixed populations due to immigration by refugees from Europe and the United States etc. South Africa got convinced to stay away from Apartheid by the waves of immigrants and most of the Boers have actually moved to Namibia which itself received so many German refugees that Britain essentially handed it over to the German Empire in exile so it had somewhere to operate from.
All in all there are five Dominions. South Africa, Rhodesia, East Africa, Australasia and Canada. lots of consolidation has taken place.
I'll go with Japan as a neutral power then. Brazil is in the Imperial camp, it's even got an active moment trying to restablish a monarchy that's just won big in the managed elections.

I like the sound of those ideas. I think the Commonwealth bloc would probably not have as much overseas influence (in the sense that they aren't trying to do as much overseas as the Soviets and Americans) since they would have to focus most of their energies on developing Africa and Asia and keeping the indigenous peoples from embracing communism.
Psychics could also be used to placate populations in the former colonies and root out subversive elements (all strictly confidential of course).
I think a 'managed democracy' is basically what a social democracy works like in this TL. There are plenty of rules and regulations on business and political management with plenty of committees to help oversee and facilitate the local and national administration. However it is not remotely socialist (at least in it's orthodox form) and still allows conservative principles to continue. However conservatism in this bloc is less focused on economics and more focused on moral principles, the socialisation of civil services and adjusting the quotas on immigration (it's less a matter of whether it can take place and more about how many and how often they allow it).
There could even be a radical 'democratic management' faction who want to amalgamate the entire bloc into some kind of federal mega-state.

Telepaths would definitely be useful in keeping colonial populations/native populations from been worked up and radicalized by demagogs and socialist rabble rousers. No Magabe figures or Che's etc.

How much power and importance do you think would be allowed for the other European monarchies and the status of the institution in general ?. I'm thinking that at least for the Commonwealth the Queen (and successors) have literal rather then theoretical power and take an active role in governance albeit without micromanaging everything and still listening to/consulting others. Essentially still a constitutional role but way more active then the neutral role of the present in OTL.

I don't think the monarchy are going to have an official capacity to break the limits of the constitution. However I imagine the various crowned heads of the Commonwealth bloc have significant cults of personality that provide them a lot of proxy authority and much more informal power. These personality cults would be encouraged to provide an ideological counterpoint to the communism and corporatist fascism of their enemies. It would also help provide a further buffer to the attempted infiltration of American culture which I think would still be exported despite the state of Cold War.
Of course to maintain the importance of these personal images the various royal families do actually have to do something useful for their nations, be very open in the community, do charitable works, promote the distribution of little icons, etc in order to remain important.
So is this map supposed to be set in the 24th Century like the regular Solar Strife?

I'm thinking of setting it during the 2000's or 2100's. Not very far along compared to the other one since without the Nazi's bullshit and the American's restrictions the Soviets have made major advances with Telepathic research and it's technological application and are preparing to implement project Physic Communion....
Also that sounds pretty spot on for the Monarchies eg Important pillars of the Community, vital roles in public and national moral and government ceremony and such.
Hopefully I'll be able to set aside some time to work on a map for it at some point soon.

I couldn't really say but they would definitely be able to put up a good fight. They might be able to last a year or so maybe. The real winner would be the Weltraum Reich since none of the Psychoverse entities could reach them for a very long time, except maybe the Uxlyatre.

Well the general premise is that each individual universe in the multiverse is surrounded by several different planes of existence that usually leak the energies that create or sustain the supernatural elements of the setting.
Nearly everything else develops from there.
The Arcane is the easiest to reach and the most common source of energy. Souls of sentient beings are also an easy source of power for supernatural beings but they usually have to be released through violence in order to be devoured.
