Thank you. I was trying to channel fairy tales when I came up with some of them to be honest. The Fungaform was the result of a sci-fi naming process, however. The Faster Riverwood is probably the most habitable since the vegetation that forms it isn't explicitly hostile, just rapaciously fast growing. The others are just plain lethal to be around.

There's a more extensive description but the gist of this is that the world embraced genetic engineering, made a lot of different engineered products (including countless monsters) and then started WWIII which didn't go too nuclear but did cause enough damage via EMP to release the genetic products onto the world - whilst it was still struggling with the after effects of the MP - and led to them overrunning it.
