There is a nation that is not a distopia or an sadistic hellhole in this world? Amazing job by the way

More or less. They're also traditionally sexist and homophobic as well as a result of their religious faith.

Are there any powers at war with one another? I would assume due to the British going Nazi would feel the Siberians are non-white and the Americans deem Atzlan to be heretical.

RoyalPsycho In reply to 123456789JD [2017-02-19 12:54:22 +0000 UTC]
There's a tenuous peace at the moment. The Siberians are a vassal of the British and are tolerated at present. America wants to wipe out Aztlan but they don't have the resources at the moment.
Generally none of the major powers have the ability to wage war and maintain their empires at the moment. Most of their territories are still empty of human life and need to be settled and secured properly first.
Iran and Afghanistan are constantly warring with one another buts its an on and off affair. Japan is probably the one most capable of taking on another power though and will probably take on China for South East Asia and the West Pacific.

What does the flag of the Holy Republic of America look like by the way? If it's more Old Testament I'd imagine they'd work a Star of David and a Cross of Christ in it one way or another.

RoyalPsycho In reply to howaboutthathumanity [2015-09-08 07:48:36 +0000 UTC]
I don't think they'd put in the Star of David (too Jewish) but yes the cross would be incorporated.

OK, makes sense.
You mentioned that this was "version 1". If you are going to make a version two, could you make it so China, America and Britain have some sort of cold war after (very primitive) nuclear weapons are redeveloped and form three insane blocs.Β
The holy covenant: America, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, possibly a revived Canadian state, among others.
The social darwinist bloc: British empire, Siberia, South Africa, Iran, among others.
The alliance of the east: China, Japan, Khmer, Afghanistan, perhaps some sort of revived Indian state, among others.
Four quarters and Mexico are at least smart about to be neutral and have carved out empires that include much of South America. Possibly a return of North Korea...

RoyalPsycho In reply to Eheucaius17 [2015-07-15 20:23:39 +0000 UTC]
That does sound interesting I would however put Japan in the social darwinists and Iran in the Alliance of the East instead.Β
Version 1 was mentioned because I had several drafts and this was the first one I finished. I did consider making some others but I thought this draft was a good finished product.Β
A world where humanity has managed to recolonise most (if not all) of the world and started fighting one another again might be interesting.

How come this world did so poorly in fighting against the zombies. To be honest, if something like this happened in real life, I think we would be able to do better than this. Most of the world's islands and peninsulas would be easily defendable, which would work out better for the Brits, Irish, Japanese, Indonesians, newZealanders, Malagasy and Filipinos, and also for the Italians, Koreans, Danes, Malaysians and Greeks. The US government would flee to Alaska, Hawaii or both and might be able to hold onto Florida and parts of the west coast. China and India would fight back with sheer manpower and Canada, Russia and the Nordic countries would just flee north where it would be too cold for the zombies to go. The mountainous arias would be ideal for defending, so tons of refugees could escape into the Rockies, Appalachians, Andes, Himalayas, Alps and Urals and hide there for the rest of the war. Not to mention other potential geographic safe zones such as the amazon, the sub Saharan African jungles, the plateau of Tibet and the Sahara dessert. Even Antarctica could be colonized as a haven for refugees. Don't get me wrong, a lot of people would die and at the end of it all everyone would many likely be totally insane, but I don't think a real life zombie war would have resulted in this many deaths. is there a reason mankind was so off guard?Β
Also, nice job overall. Really like the idea of all the crazy dystopian countries.Β

RoyalPsycho In reply to Eheucaius17 [2015-06-19 18:29:39 +0000 UTC]
Well, obviously part of it is to facilitate the story of the scenario. I couldn't have a horribly dystopian zombie apocalypse if people did the smart thing and contained and eradicated them.
Most of what you said in reference to defensible locations has happened, it just hasn't ended well. I used the book World War Z a lot when I was coming up with this scenario. I just had the surviving zones continue to contract instead of fighting back.Β
Part of the reason this world did so poorly against the zombies is because there was no Ground Zero. Like he original Night of the Living Dead and a lot of other older (or Italian) zombie movies the dead just spontaneously rose around the world.Β Of course not every person who was previously dead rose but they were wide-spread and numerous enough to cause havoc everywhere.Β There were no easy safe zones because even the defensible locations had their own infestations to deal with which amplified the chaos that ruined the world's attempted responses to the zombie outbreak.Β
A lot of the human deaths weren't caused by the zombies. Resource shortages, psychological issues (usually caused by having to shoot the moving corpses of your loved ones),the Β inability to adapt (a common problem for most residents of the 1st World), a small nuclear winter from several abandoned plants going meltdown, chemical leaks and venting from untended chemical plants, battles amongst survivors, the rise of numerous fatalistic cults and ideologies and a myriad of other problems also helped contribute to such a high death toll. A number of those safe zones you suggested are in especially inhospitable climates like the Arctic, Antarctic, major rainforests and large deserts. Those places can't support large numbers of survivors and would turn into death-zones of their own.Β
Thank you. I tried to make the dictatorships as unique as possible.

They're scattered here and there and obviously there are going to be a few in the major powers. The majority of people at this point are crazy whether from experience, inbreeding or indoctrination. It's a bit like George Orwell's 1984.

If the Americans follow an Old Testament version of Christianity, what's their opinion on the Jewish dietary laws?
π: 0 β©: 1
RoyalPsycho In reply to howaboutthathumanity [2015-06-15 22:41:49 +0000 UTC]
They find those unimportant. Their emphasis on the Old Testament largely focuses on the idea that God is wrathful. Even then their interpretations are incredibly different from what the orthodox version is.

Does the American Faith still make references to Jesus, or have they completely dropped him from the religion?
π: 0 β©: 1
RoyalPsycho In reply to howaboutthathumanity [2015-02-18 19:41:42 +0000 UTC]
Jesus is in the Faith but he's been re-imagined as more of a warrior king/political leader (the kind of Messiah the Jews were originally waiting for) who is destined to have a second coming that will lead to the obliteration of the heathens.

The Pentagon is in about as sorry a state as the rest of the city.

The wilderness beyond America's borders sustains small non-state communities here and there though life is very difficult. American control is also inadequate enough in their Territories for Christians and other groups to hide.
