and take lots of shortcuts. tutorials are fun too.
like snap a photo of someone and just trace it with a pencil. or use some photoshop trick to make it look drawn.

I feel the same about feeling like a cheater...I like my art to be origional so I dont feel guilty.
But...many of the worlds best artists are simply re-painting and re-mixing whats been done over and over and over.
How else would the world progress if people didnt use previous ideas to expand and invent new ideas?
Tutorials dont hurt anyone. My sister got a bunch of how-to-draw-anime books and she's progressed greatly in learning to draw animals and people.
Personally I think learning about mathematics and 3d modeling is a good way to learn perspective. Gooogle Sketchup is a free tool that can help you if you need to design quick backgrounds for your images.
But ok, doodling on a sheet of paper is cuter and I think you have the personality to get away with it
You could draw anything in my favorites gallery, I think it's not hard stuff, if you have the right tools.... Uhm...

That's true. I didn't mean to bash How To Draw Anime/Manga books or anything of the sort; they help give people an idea of how to go about drawing certain things that they have trouble drawing. I.E.- I'm not very good at drawing muscles. Like you said, a lot of the most famous and well-known artists are popular for something they themselves cannot claim as an original.
Thank you! n.n That's very nice of you to say. Yes, I like drawing silly things, though I enjoy doing something that other people wouldn't think to do. I try adding things that reflect how I'm feeling. For example, I felt a little loony one day, so I ended up drawing a demented-looking bunny twisting unrealistically out of a magician's hat.
