Wait, she had her heart removed? By Hush?....Is she still alive?

Yes. She was put on a life support machine and her heart was later returned to her.

Sigh...so suddenly every antagonist in Gotham has something wrong with their heads and needs to be thrown in Arkham immediately?
I mean, what if every other thief in town was put in an asylum?
There's a difference between that and arresting them before proceeding to put them behind bars.Β

Well they are criminals so they would have a few mental fallacies in order to be able to commit crimes without guilt. Also the reason Arkham is the prison for good reasons. Blackgate was destroyed after an attack by Bane and was abandoned, Strykerβs is under repairs, Belle Reve was shut down after the discovery of the Suicide Squad (or Secret Six. Forget which.), and Iron Heights is still in development. So with it being the only facility with the capability to house and contain exceptionally gifted criminals, it makes sense why non-complete crazies like Selina would be sent there.

In 2012, the criminal Bane made headlines again, when he orchestrated another mass release of inmates at the Blackgate Prison and then blew it up, leaving Gotham with a surplus of criminals and nowhere to put them. Stryker's Island took a portion of the burden for a time, but the real relief came when the Wayne Foundation financed an expansion to Arkham Asylum, transforming it from an aging mental health institution into a state of the art prison complex, now partnered with ARGUS.

Also a good point.
Dang, I realize it's been a really long time since my involvement in DC. I guess my knowledge of Arkham lore is rusty.
Sorry 'bout that.

It is fine. This is the lore of Earth-27, the DC Fan Project me and phil-cho have been working on 4 years now.

Yes. Similar to how it was removed in the Heart of Hush story.

Can I get the details? Unless you are a ghost, spirit, alien, mutant, or Solomon Grundy, living through a heart removal is kind of impossible.
Possible exception being if you somehow live long enough to successfully get a new one. (See Meet the Medic from the Team Fortress 2 shorts, courtesy of Valve)

Tell that to the 3500 recipients of heart transplants every year.
In the case of Selina Kyle, it was a surgical procedure performed by Mr Freeze and Scarecrow at the behest of Hush. While her heart was removed, Mr Freeze kept her on a life support machine.

Huh. Goes to show you how little I know about modern medical science. How exactly does the patient stay alive? A life support machine of some kind?
Interesting. You know, apart from being well-versed in the Arkham games, I havenβt actually looked at any other Batman material. Iβm considering Batman: the animated series. (That was also Harleyβs first appearance, right?)

Typically almost immediately a suitable heart is placed within the patient's body, although rejection is an issue as with any other transplant. As for the DCU, it should be noted that technology is somewhat ahead of our times thanks to the various mad scientists, corporations like LexCorp and Wayne Enterprises, and the various metahumans with noted intelligence like the inventor of the drug used by the three individuals called Hourman known as Miraclo. So it's entirely likely that the DCU has wholesale artificial hearts, somewhat akin to the core of Pre-Crisis Metallo,Β that avoid the issue of tissue rejection entirely. Whether they're within cost is another story.

These Arkham files are brilliantly done. Gives you the important stuff and isn't bogged down too much. Very nice work. Do you do all of the work on these files (pictures and writing)? If so what program do you use to create something like that? It's really amazing work.

phil-cho does the character art and I do the rest. If you don't follow Phil yet, I recommend doing so. Phil's an incredible artist.
Phil and I both use Photoshop.

I don't really agree with this one, although it is nicely done. Catwoman is not a villain in my eyes. She is a hero and Batman's greatest love.

In Earth-27, she is married to Bruce Wayne and they have a newborn daughter together. But she was a thief and criminal, which is why she spent some time locked up.

I know that, their child was Helena who became the Huntress of that world. Still, she is not evil in my mind. A former criminal who reformed and became a heroine. Hopefully she will marry Bruce in the main universe as well, he recently proposed.Β
