Description This is the first thing i've drawn in like 2 years. I'm pretty happy with it as a design. Now what I think i'm going to do is paint it. I've never really messed with paint, but it seems fun right now. I'll try to put up a pic of the finished product when its completed. Oh, its all one line too.

Great work! That must have been hard to do. What you want to do with it sounds really awesome also!

this is fascinating. somehow my initial raction was this should be taken to Illustrator for a finish, but it could also become a great painting. i assume its either beacause of your scanners presettings or the filter youve run over it, but if not, what did you use for the line? it looks really interesting, like some thick material or something.

Thanks, i'm glad you like it! Haha, that thick material is just a pencil line! I just did a straight scan onto the computer.

What I am going to do now is paint the background of a canvas a bright, swirling orange and yellow, etc, that really jumps at you. Then I will use an overhead projecter to project the design onto the canvas and paint the negative space in some dark colors (maybe dark black and blue swirled together). This will leave the actual knotwork to jump out at you. I've never done anything like this before, but it makes sense in my head, so I guess we'll see how it ends up!

now youve really got me interested. im really looking forward to your final painting. i was thinking youd be well advised to keep the focus on the linework and not take away form that by adding too much extravaganza in the background, and i see thats xactly what youre going for, so hurry and finish this piece

That's pretty cool. I think it would be nice for a tattoo design.
