MANTIS POND - 12" X 24" Acrylic on canvas 9/2009This is another 'interim' painting, (I will not call it a study) moving towards a larger piece 'UNDERWORLD IV'. This is character development. The cobra lilies are becoming more cobra-like. The caterpillars are evolving. The mantis is a new character, as is the black widow spider. There are many black widows were I live. They amaze me.
I'll probably move into the larger piece now. I've used this same palette and same basic theme in my last 3 or 4 paintings. I plan to continue specializing like this, continue to explore where this world will take me, until I have exhausted the potential of this world. That might very well be never.
If only I could live forever.

You know ... I was sitting here going through the art of people I watch ... making comments on various pieces until I came upon your work ... and then I'm stuck ... Drawn in .. I sit here drinking in all the multitude of detail and diversity of your inner worlds and feel like I should write up some deep thoughtfull comment about it all ... so I leave .. thinking Okay I'll come back to it ...
Then go answer a few comments ... thank people for faves ... and then come back ... and get stuck again ...
and after coming back to your visual roadblock that halts me in my tracks I finally feel I need to explain myself ....
So yeah ... no deep and insightfull comment ... Just the fact that your art can stop me in my tracks for my eyes to devour it like a shark on a never ending feeding frenzy should be enough ... but I'm left feeling guilty that just telling you that it's awesome
It feels like it just isn't enough ...
but it'll have to do ...

Amazing piece as always, I like how you're doing these demo pieces of sorts in between the larger and more in depth pieces that tend to come after three or four smaller ones.
