Description This is for a contest for a group I'm in ^^
The theme was "Fairytale Lolita", so I went with Little Red Ridinghood (of course, there are already 3 reds =_= )
I read once that the real meaning of the tale is for young girls to watch out for horny teenage boys
It kinda makes sense if you think about it.

Due to time limits, I did the background completly in markers. I'm not sure if I love it, but at least I'll get more practice with my wonderful markers~
My entery is sooooo last minute, this is the last day you can submit

Tools: prismacolor pencils and markers, copic markers, and micron sakura pens.

Of course! You deserved it. The comment, I mean. I really don't understand the point of llamas, but people seem to like them so I give them out all the time. xD So I'm sure you deserved the llama too, if they're something that one must be deserving of.

neato, I like how the whole thing looks together

those ol' school riding hood stories are quite suggestive

Thanks for saying that, I was worried at first that it would look to dark.

They really are! I'm studing them in class now and its pretty crazy how different they are from today's children's books.

long as you can see everything I don't think it's too dark

Aww, thanks man
I just find lolita dresses so fun to draw~
I feel like my art has been leaning more and more toward creepy or on crack. Tim Burton has gone to my brain

Yay! Its ok, dude. I'm like the master of procrastination too.

Or your tastes are maturing and you've subconsciously realized that sugary-sweetness isn't your style. ;D

Yes, we're so similar like that

I always felt like it wasn't (remeber the artist comment I had under the angel pic on my old account?). But the only thing i could produce back then was sugary sweetness.

I don't remember it, sorry. I think everyone starts out that way until they get a lot of practice drawing under their belt. Trust me, I know. -_-; <-is remembering old shames

Lulz - yeah, I'm also aware of the creepier meaning behind the original story. Them fairy tales were a lot darker/weirder in their original forms.

I love it though - the dark tones look great and the character design is awesome!

RubberDuck4LUNCH In reply to TheStorageGnome [2010-10-11 02:24:21 +0000 UTC]

Its so true. I think Snow White had an odd original, something about a belt strangling her to death

Aww, thanks
I wasn't sure if it was getting too dark, so I'm really happy you liked it.

...and thanks for the fav!

Nope you really can't
...and then there's the Disney version!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheStorageGnome In reply to RubberDuck4LUNCH [2010-10-16 03:44:17 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah... Eric marries Ursula in the real book and betrays the mermaid, hence the suicide. I've heard there's some Christ-like symbolism intended in there - the whole sacrificial death and undying love thing.

-___-;; Yush. And then there's Disney. <- but even though they wreck books, I still love classic Disney movies.

RubberDuck4LUNCH In reply to TheStorageGnome [2010-10-16 03:49:43 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I had thought it was just a random girl he married, i didn't realize it was Ursual. Some how it doesn't surprise me that it has something to do with religion, a lot of art and writing from back then had to do with religion.

I have to agree! People complain about Disney, but I like how they but a happy twist on depressing classics.

TheStorageGnome In reply to RubberDuck4LUNCH [2010-10-16 03:57:35 +0000 UTC]

Yup - it was Ursula (or the antagonist lady anyway... not sure if that was really her name or just the Disney name). I think I read something about it being symbolic of going after false loves sorta thing. Yup, yup - God, vengeance, life lessons, love, death, pathos. Now we write about vampires who sparkle. ...what happened?

Me too! They kinda tweak them and make them their own, which I really don't have much of a problem with. I love a feel good movie with pretty animation!
