Ok, ok, ok, I CAN EXPLAIN, I swear it, don't leave the page now! There is an EXPLANATION!
Santino.... is... the STEREOTYPE of the Italian Male... dark and curly-haired, olive complexion, hairy arms and thorax (abrrrr >.>;;;; ) etc... (and he loves GOLD CHIGARETTE LIGHTERS! Oh my XD) ...he makes me laugh, expecially because I'm italian. *rolls* And... that name?! SANTINO? *rolls again*
Apart from that, the fact is... Santino is in every book. But WHO knows who really is SANTINO? Nobody! *rolls*
Until The Vampire Armand, I had not a very clear idea of who the hell was this Santino. In every book he is mentioned, sometimes he's present, and he behaves as we all know who he is... but... we really should know? ;.; I've never understood who Santino was... nobody knows who Santino is, but... ALWAYS... THERE HE IS. Β°_*
....oh, right: in this sketch he's not curly-haired, I know. But be patient, I made it after reading three or four books. I hadn't read yet The Vampire Armand, in which I discovered finally his physical appearance! XDDD

Armand mentions him during The Vampire Lestat... we see him in The Queen of the Damned... and well, I don't remember but surely someone mentioned him also in The tale of the Body Thief... and we finally discover his phisical appeareance in The Vampire Armand.....

Maybe it's not very common. I don't know in France, but in Italy for example "Amadeo" it's a quite old name, and the italian version of "Armand", "Armando", it's more than unusual. XDDD
