Description

**Please Feel Free to Zoom in on Drawing; it looks a lot better this way** (<- I always find that my drawings need to be zoomed in, so if y'all have a solution lemme know pleaseee :3)

======================================================================================

First and foremost, happy new year! (wow this is really late to be saying this, but I tried :'D) Here's another fan art post from a sports anime that I really enjoyed watching, and I took inspiration from Kuroko and Kagami complementing each other through their "light" and "shadow" aspects, so I guess that's what made this piece 0-0~ Tbh, I had a lot of trouble drawing them because I have trouble with drawing males and that too I drew them and their full bodies! (so I am not exactly satisfied with the way it turned out.. :/)Β ~ I do hope that you guys might like it! :'D β™₯

**btw, if you would like me to draw some other fan arts from other anime, feel free to recommend some to me in the comments ^-^, and if you have any criticism, let me know as well >..< new year, new improvement>>?? :'D

I don't have any experience drawing guys either so I'm not the best person to give critiques on anatomy, but if I may point out a couple of errors:

Kuroko's arms are a bit too short in comparison to the rest of his body, likewise Kagami's legs are not long enough to go with his body structure. I'd recommend studying body proportions for reference to help yourself improve.
This is what sticks out the most, I suggest practicing with drawing anatomy first before moving on to the more technical stuff since it's quite an issueΒ in this work and most of your others.

Keep working at it, your coloring and detail are great! Just polish up that anatomy

hahah yeah me neither~ and their anatomy is so difficult to draw in my opinion :'D~ And I do see those points of critque, and in my next piece drawing guys, I'll try to fix and look out for those parts of their anatomy!! And thanks for your thoughts and kind words

Yeah, for the life of me I can't seem to draw male anatomy properly either :') I'm also in the middle of drawing a guy right now and I have no idea what I'm doing XD
Don't mention it, I'd be happy to offer advice anytime ^^

Thank you, I'll try my best! It's just a sketchbook drawing though so don't expect too much ^^

0-0 it's quite funny because I do, but I use it for practice~~ I also find that sometimes my sketches are way better than my digital pieces on DA xD traditional is getting back to be again x_x but mostly I have sketches from real life turned into anime-styled works? hbu? :3

I kinda use mine for practice too, and I thought I was the only one who thought that OMG!! Like it's so much easier to do traditional art but there's so much more you can do with digital, that's why I like drawing digitally more often now. Even though oftentimes my traditional artwork looks a lot better than my digital OTL Er, I just draw anime stuff in my sketchbooks since doing scenery or realism isn't that fun for me I only post my *decent-looking* ones on my Instagram account mainly because I don't think they're good enough to be posted on DA orz

omgg I can relate at a way too personal level TvT... and aww and I feel youu~ digital has so much potential to do, but at the same time it is really time consuming and stressful at times xD Sketching is short and helps me practice so I got to love that I draw guys a lot so I can improve LOL (its hilarious because I draw such beautiful guys in my sketchbook and I go to draw something digitally and it looks like shit xD)... I also was planning to get back into some digital artwork by posting some sketchbook works but I'm a bit unsure.... :/

Every other artist I know feels the same way, it's weird x) Yeah, there are times where I can only use my sketchbook because my hand just refuses to work with me when I'm trying to draw digitally DX But it is quite relaxing though lol I never draw guys because I can't male anatomy :') (LOL really?? I'm literally the same way except with girls XDDD) I think that would be a nice idea, I'm also curious about how your sketchbook drawings look like now (especially how you draw guys) ^^

haha aww thank you for the interest xDD I can send some pics via notes if you would like? ^-^ Β  and the struggle is so real with guys... like is it an opposite sex thing? Like I have a couple guy friends who can't draw girls for their lives, but can draw guys well?? O-o I wonder what it is xD

No problem! Those drawings were super gorgeous btw ❀
Omg Ikr? I have that same problem, but the thing is I know many other artists who can draw the opposite gender very well but fail when they try to draw their own gender O_O It's really weird XDDD

awww thanks so much <33 ~ and yeah I guess the gender thing isn't really a problem for some people 0-0... I'm told that girls are generically easier to draw in an anime style compared to guys-> is this true? I'm not sure, I have just heard a lot of mangakas say that girls are sort of the "basic" thing they master xDΒ

You're welcome~! ^^ Yeah, but for the people it is a problem for... I guess so(?) That's how I along with many other artists started out so I suppose it is the most basic thing to drawΒ Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

ruchib711 In reply to Poppypraise [2017-01-22 16:15:30 +0000 UTC]

haha I guess xD... but anatomy will always be impossibly hard for me xD~ Like I know of artists who are so good at drawing anatomy, and their advice is to "study the human body", and my reaction goes something along the lines of, "what does that even mean :'D"... is that just me?Β  Β

Poppypraise In reply to ruchib711 [2017-01-23 04:15:48 +0000 UTC]

lol I know that feeling all too well TTwTT I thought I was pretty ok at anatomy until some others told me otherwise XD I suppose that means to study photos of people and compare body ratios or something...at least that's what it seems like to me? I don't really see what it would mean otherwise??

ruchib711 In reply to Poppypraise [2017-01-23 22:28:21 +0000 UTC]

hahah I feel you... I think my very first full body drawings featured "carrot-shaped" noses(<), hands that were giant pickles, and really muscular calves and thighs xD although nothing seems to have changed :'D so I guess I have to stare at some pictures>>... Also, idk if they meant to copy pictures/use real-life pictures as reference to get better at proportions>>? Idk, how copying leads to improvement tho...Β Β

Β LOLOLOL That sounds like me 10 years ago XDDD lol you're not that bad now, you just need some more practice, that's all ^^ Well, not just stare at pictures (lol) also using them as references while drawing, like how you draw K-pop idols as practice. Basically as you keep on drawing anatomically correct body proportions over and over again (for practice) it'll eventually get stuck in your head and you'll be able to do it on your own without looking at references. It takes some time though
