Description The Char Twins

Two or three Combine soldiers are standing guard nearby, as well as at least one city scanner in sight. Charlie and Charlotte Charnal sit inside the Lobella clinic silently. Charlotte is leaning and Charlie's shoulder, both of their faces are emotionless. The two sit in the waiting room and have been for the last hour and a half. A doctor enters the waiting room from the ER wing with a clipboard.

"I'm afraid it's grim." The doctor tells the twins once walking up to them; they both stand "he's gone now." Charlotte bursts into tears and sits back down, but Charlie continues standing.
"Don't worry about my sister; we've just been through this a lot. So Henry is dead now?" The doctor looks back up from his clipboard.
"I'm sorry for the confusion, but no, He's simply in a coma, and we don't have the technology right now to wake him up." The doctor motions for Charlie to calm his sister down, and after about five minutes she's once again silent.
"I'm sorry, but it's almost curfew, and you two need to go back to your home, with or without your guardian." The doctor tells Charlie as he leads the two of them to the exit door. Just before they leave Charlie reassures the doctor.
"Try not to worry about it Dr. Gavin, remember, we've been through this dozens of times. We'll be fine."
Dr. Gavin smiles, "if your dad were here he'd be proud of you, only 15 and already more mature then the rest of us."

"He's going to be okay right?" Charlotte asks Charlie as the twins walk back to their empty home, "I mean, won't the Combine find out about him, they don't let coma patients live."
"C'mon T, don't think like that," Charlotte looks down, but Charlie pulls her chin upwards. "You have to be strong when things like this happen."
Charlotte puts on a smile. "I mean, remember the snowball? And you told me 'It's him or us'?" Charlie says and makes Charlotte laugh light-heartedly.
"Thanks Lee, you always know just what to say." Charlotte smiles up at her brother, they may be twins, but he's 3 inches taller then her.

"Hey!" One of the three Combine Civil Protection Agents (CPA) yells in a muffled voice at the twins a couple blocks before their home. "What are you kids doing out past curfew!" Charlotte 'eeps' and hides behind Charlie, she still remembers what happened last time she crossed one of these guys, let alone three.
"It's okay sirs," Charlie says, "we live around the corner, we're just returning from the hospital."
All three CPA's charge up their stun sticks, "Not good enough!" The one yells before they charge the twins. Charlotte shrieks and huddles on the ground with her arms over her head, while Charlie stands his ground. He's never had much luck standing up to groups of armed attackers, first of all he isn't very strong, sure he's strong, but not THAT strong. But he's always had a reason to stand against those groups; his sister, he cared for her, and she him. They're all the other has, but she's timid, so he needs to defend her in times like this.

They beat on Charlie for a good 10 minutes, and gave Charlotte a few good dozen whacks before they decide to go do something else.
"You have a nice night now, huh huh huh!" The one laughs as they walk away, leaving Charlie bloody and broken on the street corner. Breathing heavily, Charlie starts dragging himself towards a wall to pull himself up, but he's stopped in his path. A hand is offered down at him.
"I'm sorry I did this to you, can you ever forgive me for being so weak?" Charlotte asks, looking as apologetic as ever. She has a black eye and several large dark bruises. "Would you like help home?"
"Thanks for the hand," Charlie smiles, "and remember to stand up for yourself, you're too smart to cower in fear your whole life." He tells Charlotte as he takes her offer to get up.
"I know," she says, getting under his arm to act as his support, "I'm just afraid of getting hurt…" Charlotte trails off.
"Well I hate to break it to you, but you kind of did get hurt being afraid." Charlie tells her as they walk up their front steps.
"I just wish I could do something about those Combines." Charlotte proclaims.

Charlotte sets Charlie down on the couch to rest before hearing a knock at the front door.  Charlotte flinches, a little bit on edge from all that's already happened tonight. After a moment she walks over to the door and opens it a crack, not seeing anyone as she look s around. When she looks down she sees a note, she picks it up and it reads:

I bore witness to what happened to you and your brother earlier and if it isn't too forward I would like to speak with you about doing something to stop eventss like this from happening in the future.

Charlotte looks up from the note and yells, "Hello? I can't see you! I don't know if I can trust you if I can't see you."
"I must apologize," says a voice from the shadows, "I thought my appearance might startle you." Charlotte opens the door slightly wider, though it's still less than half way open. She looks towards where the voice is coming from.
"No, it's, um, it's alright, if you want to help then I guess it's okay if you look a little different."
"I still feel I should warn you, I'm not human, nor am I Combine, or even any race whom you've ever met," The voice tells her. Charlotte thinks about that for a moment, 'maybe I should let him help me,' she thought, 'he might be a doctor, and if he is then he can heal Charlie.'

"It's alright, you can come in, but I still would like to see what you look like first." Charlotte says, somewhat afraid of what she might see.
"That's of no trouble." The voice says calmly before slowly emerging from the shadow of the tree he was just in. What Charlotte is looking at is indeed not human, nor any race she's ever seen. The being standing before her, first of all is short, about 4'7. This being is also thin, about as thin as a metal lamppost. His skin is a dark shade of navy blue, as well as he has 6 thin arms of equal length, and 4 'fingers' at the ends of all of his arms. He has three legs set up in a way similar to a camera tripod. Where his head should be, there's a custom looking type of metal mask. Just above the mask there's a horizontal row of four eyes, all seemingly able to move individually as this person surveys the front deck area of Charlotte's home. Charlotte, being prepared, isn't afraid of him, though she is taken back a bit.
"Okay, I guess that's everything, except maybe, um, a name though." Charlotte says while still looking through the crack in the doorway.
"The 'name' I was given at life enter has no direct translation in your language, but the closest option would be Gear, followed by Twitch. Geartwitch." Geartwitch tells Charlotte. Charlotte is now opening the door wider to allow Geartwitch inside.

"And this is my living room." Charlotte tells Geartwitch as she gives him a tour of their small house. "There isn't much in here, but, um, Charlie is still hurt, and, if he could heal him, I'd like that a lot…" Charlotte trails off at the end of her sentence.
"My species does not possess the healing capabilities of the Vortigonts, though I can create a device in which to complete the task in their stead. It can be ready in several minutes." Charlotte perks up and gives Geartwitch a hug.
"Oh, thank you, thank you." GT doesn't seem overly comfortable getting hugged, but he doesn't do anything about it, he's familiar enough that this is a sign of gratitude for human.

=====

Charlie, now fully healed, and Charlotte, also now healed up, sit on the two seater couch while Geartwitch stands in front of the very small television across from the couch.
"So let me get this straight," Charlie starts, "You're going to build us tiny machine things to help us fight the Combine."
"You are correct."
"And they'll give us special powers of some kind?" Charlotte adds.
"I can, and will, do as you have asked."
Charlie looks to his left at Charlotte, 'can we trust him?' he asks through the expressions on his face. 'We have no choice,' Charlotte answers back to him in the same way. The two then return to facing GT.
"Are you absolutely sure you can build things like that?" Charlie asks, still not completely convinced.
"Just as humans excel at surviving against tremendous odds, my species excels at designing and building helpful machinery. I will most certainly be able to enhance specific human abilities." GT reassures Charlie, Charlie now gets up from the couch with a hope filled look.
"Will we be able to choose what powers we get?" he asks.
"Although that would be convenient, what I'm considering does not allow the option. The device I'm thinking of takes your weakest fighting based skill and enhances it far beyond human capability."
Charlie stops, he hadn't considered that, he thought he's be able to bump up anything he wanted. But after thinking about for a bit he knows that having being given something that he needs is far more useful then just making him super strong. Charlotte and GT both look hopefully at Charlie.

"Alright," he says, "I'm in."
