I wish this was the assault rifle. The Lewis/Maxim bastard rifle that they replaced the assault rifle with is stupid and defies the setting.

I think they used that new one cause they wanted it to be big looking even when held in the hands of a power armored character...the New Vegas assault carbine or Fallout 3 G3 Assault Rifle would have looked a bit under-sized...thankfully there are some great mods that add back some older guns...for example theres now a New Vegas assault carbine mod, a Fallout 3 Assault Rifle (G3), a New Vegas Service Carbine Mod (with the unique Survivalist's Rifle from Honest Hearts), 3 seperate Fallout 1/2 Wattz 2000 laser rifle mods, a New Vegas Hunting shotgun mod (with the unique Dinner Bell), a New Vegas Battle Rifle (M1 Garand, with the unique This Machine) mod, a Fallout 3/New Vegas 10mm SMG mod, a New Vegas 9mm pistol mod (with unique Maria-esque pistol), a New Vegas .45 pistol mod (from Honest Hearts, with the unique "A Light Shining in Darkness" included), a New Vegas Elite Ranger Armor/helmet with included Riot Gear (from Lonesome Road) mod, a Laser RCW mod, a New Vegas Light Machine Gun mod (based on a M60 rather than a M249 SAW), a mod that adds a barrel to the plasma rifle that looks like the barrel on the Fallout 3/New Vegas plasma rifle, the nexas mod website has 2 mods that recreate New Vegas' unique AER-14 (green laser prototype) laser rifle, a mod that adds a Plasmacaster (plasma rifle from Fallout 1/2 and heavy weapon from New Vegas)...another mod adds the M3 "Grease Gun" (The 9mm smg from New Vegas except with the .45 rounds the real life M3 used), another mod adds a set of Chinese Stealth Armor, while a few other Fallout 3/New Vegas armors are added via other mods...and I'm quite sure I missed a bunch of mods that add older series game content into fallout 4 since I have the Xbox One version, and most mods are still only on the Nexus website (for PC players)
