Dumbledore beats Gandalf in one thing: Rapping

Gandalf stomps (as much as I'm a HP fan), no way Dumbledore can take down Gandalf.

Gandalf is blessed and has better protective spells, and gandalf was smart and multiclassed, remember, wizards run out of spells

Much as I prefer Gandalf, Dumbledore would win, simply from having a far superior arsenal of spells; magic is (strangely) far rarer in Middle Earth.

Actually...?
Gandalf.
Why?
Simple; he had the Glamdring, and has proven multiple times to be- at the very least- an arrow timer, and possibly has far faster reactions. Spells in Harry Potter don't move much faster than an arrow, and bounce off of everything they hit that isn't living, in this instance an Elvish blade. And while Dumbledore has a few spells that act as win conditions besides the Avada Kedavra, and some pyrokinesis, it's nothing new to Gandalf. Both have some measure of mental/psychic resistance, so it likely won't come down to that. In melee, Gandalf takes it, easy; he's shown to be far better with the Glamdring, or Biter, than Dumbledore has ever been with his only feasible melee weapon, the Sword of Gryffindor. If we're going to take that LotR MOBA game into account, then Gandalf also has fireworks on hand, which will stun Dumbledore for the several seconds needed to run him through. To top it all off? A several hundred year advantage in experience. The way I see it, once Gandalf figures out that Dumbledore's wand is the medium for his magic, he will telekinesis it out of his hand the way Saruman did to him before he knew better. And since he has the stamina to keep up until that point...
Gandalf is the winner.

Β Along those lines, yes. I didn't touch on it, but the reason he possesses this stamina is due to that time he fought the Balrog for an extensive period of time, through multiple injuries. Apparently, that same feat also makes him a bona fide mountain-buster, but I haven't looked into that enough to confirm it's validity. All the same, given these edges...

Β Pretty much. Although, as I said earlier, looking at it realistically, the most likely scenario is them just chatting and having some tea.

Β And smoking pipes, of course!!
Β You know, a funny thought occurred to me; if they've been smoking for that long, how aren't they affected by it? Then I remembered Gandalf is a supernatural entity (I forgot the name, please don't lynch me) and Elminster has an ungodly Fortitude save, so...

Of course melee isnt an option when Dumbledore can simple disapparate every time he gets close and he could always surround him in an orb of water like he did to Voldemort or simply charm everything and anything nearby to come to life and attack Gandalf, while he is distracted pick him off with some well placed spells... I don't know enough about Gandalf to know how he would react to any of that though so rebut away

Also, I think it far more likely they would just drink tea and smoke and have a chat

Well he can do all sorts of magic, although magic on the discworld is a problem as it tends to have a life of its own, he would likely just try to feed an opponent to death though

Now, THAT... is something I would pay money to see.
Also, yes, the water orb and charm could potentially be issues, but Gandalf has telekinesis to stop the water and to counter Dumbledore's own, and any animals Dumbledore could charm wouldn't be much of an issue to him, given that he fought his way out of the goblin caves. Believe it or not, Dumbledore is actually pretty good physically. Apparition, however, is something that Gandalf has no method of countering; the sword is mostly a reliable method of defense against Dumbledore's magic. Again, however, fireworks can set up an attack, and my other points still stand.

Of course, Dumbledore is also able to alter himself physically with his magic, it is never ventured into in much depth in the books but I think it's safe to assume, if it can be done, he can do it. Also, Dumbledore isn't limited to charming animals, he can charm anything into attacking, he used the statues in the ministry of magic when he fought Voldemort and while I have no doubt Gandalf could defend himself against a physical attack like that, how much time and concentration does he need to ward off a barrage of magical attacks from Dumbledore while he is fighting a circle of attackers. It just seems to me that Dumbledores magic is so wide, varied and fast that Gandalf wouldn't have much of a chance. Imagine Dumbledore creating a few giant fire snakes (fire being his element and chosen weapon) to come at Gandalf from all sides while bombarding him with incredibly powerful spells, I don't know how the fireworks actually work as a weapon, but I think a shield charm might be more than a match to hold them off while Dumbledore does as he pleases or worse, transfigures them into something else to attack Gandalf

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the next episode after Kirby VS Majin to commemorate the release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.

Fanboy in me wants to say Gandalf, but he's lost too many fights (Sauron, Saruman, Witch-King etc.)
Dumbledore.

Because grey was his weakest form. White defeated easly saruman and olΓ³rion (gandalfs original form as maiar is way above here, whit tousands of years of livetime or even more and insane powers.)
