I'm not a professional - I just had an abnormal amount of patience when I started this one! Thank you very much!

Thank you so much! I took a picture of it - none of the scanners around were quite big enough.

Wow, this is Pretty good

did you make a Photo from the Original or did you Scan it ?

Run-Beside-Me In reply to Carart [2010-01-18 18:00:04 +0000 UTC]

Why thank you - both for your comment and the fav!

I took a photo because I couldn't find a big enough scanner. I do like scanners best when I can use them.

Carart In reply to Run-Beside-Me [2010-01-18 20:11:50 +0000 UTC]

YouΒ΄re very Wellcome

So you took Photos from your Paintings ? Thats interesting, cause i scan my Pictures always with a Din A3 Scanner in 6 or sometimes in 8 Parts, and than i put them in Photoshop together.
The Reason for that is
I dont know why, but it seems that iΒ΄m not able to get the Right lights to illuminate the Painting that it looks like it should be ( White looks like white and not ie. Cream or even worse Grey ). do you have any advice for Lights
for me ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Run-Beside-Me In reply to Carart [2010-01-19 04:05:27 +0000 UTC]

Wow, your process is intense. You seem to get pretty good results from what I saw so that's great at least!
I know what you mean - when you use a camera the white is sometimes cream/gray. And your drawings are so beautiful - it's really important to have the white be white. When I do this, I turn on every light in my room. I have a long fluorescent light on the ceiling, which I think has helped a lot with preserving the white of the paper (though if you look at my photographed drawings, the white isn't totally white). I usually take my photos into a manipulation program and strengthen the exposure. That helps brighten the drawing up.
So I guess my big advice is to have an really, really bright environment, with light coming from overhead. Sorry I don't have anything better!

p.s. And thanks for the watch!

Thank you for the Reply ^_^

Yes your advice sounds familiar to me, but even if i go outside and make the Picture
under Daylight conditions it is not even close to the result of working with a Scanner.

But even when i work with a Scanner, i have to do Brightness and Contrast correction in Photoshop,
haha..maybe i
do something wrong with that Scanner thing

You're welcome!

I'm not very knowledgeable about scanners...oh dear...well, whatever you're doing seems to be giving awesome results from what I've seen.

Careful with the proportions, the roof looks a bit high. Also, when you draw a wheel, make sure they are perpendicular to the axle.

If you dont know what I mean, draw a line through the widest point of the ellipse that makes the wheel. Then draw another line, perpendicular to that one. The perpendicular line though point through the axle of the car ^^ Yours is bent inward a bit.

Marker technique is very nice, but could use more contrast in some places. That may just be the scan quality though

I'm glad you like it! I used Prismacolor markers. Each marker has a fine tip on one end and a wide tip on the other end - it makes them really versatile and they lay down great color. Thanks for the comment!

This is great! Proportions, foreshortening, lines and character of the car...it's all there. What is really amazing is how you got such a range of values in a light colored car. Those warm grays really give it a silvery look! She's gorgeous!
