First of all, I love your style, it's very cute!
I do have some criticism for you, hope it helps!
Firstly, I don't think the tree shadows are too dark per say- they block the incoming light just fine- the problem is more that there is very little ambient light to fill it up. Generally, you will see the sky's colour reflected in cast shadows. I do agree with the other posts that the shadows should bend more with the landscape. They are currently very sharp, which looks especially strange around the fox's feet. I can't tell you straight away how to fix that, unfortunately. Another thing is the inconsistent shading on the fox. If the light comes from the left, we shouldn't see shadow on its left flank. Likewise, we'd expect the ears to cast a shadow over the face.
On a completely different note, the perspective of the rock path could use some work. As the path recedes into the distance, the stones will appear 'squished' on their vertical axis. Here's a good example of how that works in real life:Β 3.bp.blogspot.com/-roPnyg3rfHUβ¦
Keep on drawing and learning!

Aaaahhh! Thank you so much for this, I can tell that you put a lot of thought and effort into writing this critique up for me.Β I fiddled with ambient light for a bit but it didn't look right so I scrapped it - but I think I figured out why it was looking so 'off,' and you're right that it would have made a huge difference.Β I hadn't even thought about the effects of distance on the rock path, I'm really glad that you pointed it out!
Thanks so much again for all of the very helpful advice!!

Oh wow, I didnβt even realize that stone was a path, I thought it was a very short wall/step...

Very nice but the tree shadows are a bit odd and powerful (they donβt really bend with the terrain)

Yeah, in retrospect I can definitely see the issues with the tree shadows.Β Thank you for pointing it out!

Awesome!
Although the shadows from the trees looks weird.
They are too hard and dark.

Have that? That's really annoying :/. I noticed that this drawing also doesn't show up on my main page and can't figure out why on earth that is. It seems like things are glitchy lately but there isn't much i can do about it..
But thank you so much, im so glad to hear that you like it!
