Sorry for the question, but how many days did it take to do the horse? I am planning to do it too, but I still haven't finished my costume, and I have a very little amount of time.
Sorry for bothering.

Hi, it took roughly about 2 months of work. But of coz I didn't take 2 months as I stopped/took a break for quite long between steps. Most of the time was actually spent on waiting for the paper mache/ wall putty/ air dry clay to dry. But it really depends on how you wanna rush this. My advice is not to rush on the sanding and wall putty layering as this really affects how the horse will turn out. Hope this helps.

Thanks for answering. (It came out that I didn't even finished my cosplay in time, not even my horse)
I think I will take it verrryyy slowlyyyy (as I usually do).
Thanks again for the answer and advice, I hope if I will be able to do the horse very nicely, I will able to enter the local cosplay contest /o/
(and nice Alice cosplay, by the way *-*)

Following this tutorial as closely as possible since it's my first prop.. Managed to still mess up and forgot to put more than one layer of paper mΓ’chΓ© on the head, so when I went to put the putty on it is ripping... I'm having to prove a lot of patience throughout this... Thanks for the tutorial.

Hey you're most welcome!
Maybe u can try to remove the putty from the ripped part and layer more paper mache first.
Good luck!! With patience it will all work out!

The ripped part is on the right side of his face just a few inches above the nostril, there are three big gashes.. what I ended up doing is taking some duct tape and putting it on the inside, then today I will just putty in the hole and wait for that to dry so I can sand paper him tomorrow.. it's looking NOWHERE near as good as yours.. but for my first prop ever I am truly proud of myself (though if I stare long enough I am critiqueing everything, but I guess that goes with everything people do really). This tutorial has proven to be very useful, so thanks again (even though I've said it three times now - my second account is SilverLuxury (see comment below this one lol). Have a great Isther/Easter weekend!

I guess I'm just stupid and don't really understand the horn... I'll have to put my own touch to it anyway (I just am still pretty new to cosplaying and need tutorials to help me with everything). Thanks for the tutorial, it's somewhat easy to follow (but I'm an idiot so...) Thanks for sharing.

You're most welcome and I'm glad it helped.
The horn part is basically a plastic cone with air dry clay spiraled around it.

except I'm not sure where I'm gonna get ALL those supplies <_< oh BTW, how heavy was it when it was finished?

rurik0 In reply to AnyaGladstone [2013-08-07 16:22:46 +0000 UTC]

Most of the items can be obtained from general DIY or hardware stores. It was about 3kg on a stick... real heavy due to the many layers of putty filler.

Actually, the first time I played chess it was on a chess board with three foot tall pieces at a hotel in South Carolina. :3
