It's been a whole year since I've drawn anything related to Star Trek or Star Trek Online, which honestly comes as a shock to me!
Star Trek Online was my whole life for uh... 8 years, give or take? As the game and I both have changed and grown over time, I find myself drawn to it less and less. I have a variety of reasons as to why, but I think it really does boil down to simply growing apart (which is normal!).
That doesn't mean I can't feel nostalgic for how the game made me feel in the past. That's what motivated me to draw this. This is the captain and senior officers of the USS Pallantias, a Pathfinder-class long-range science vessel (which Picard Season 3 has officially made into a canon ship!!). The Captain, T'Ihsek, is the most prominent character featured; behind her are Commander/First Officer Tospha Zh'Yzoti (Andorian), Commander Dherys Ajhlim (Aenar), Lieutenant Commander Rreri (Caitian), Lieutenant Commander 5 of 7 (Liberated Borg/xB), Lieutenant Kuurshem (Kentari), and Lieutenant T'Peyra (Vulcan).
The title of this deviation is the quote on the Pallantias' dedication plaque, and it translates to "everything changes, nothing is lost/perishes" -- it originates from Ovid's Metamorphoses. I never intended for the dedication plaque quote to resonate so much with how I feel about STO today, so for that coincidence, it means even more to me.
Hilariously, the last time I drew anything Trek was when I drew this crew in the Lower Decks animation style. This wasn't intended, I just love these characters a lot:
If you'd like to see how they look in-game (including the ship, which I did not draw because boy I have never really practiced drawing ships before), see below! It links to my STO-specific account.
Ultimately, this illustration is the result of why I became an artist to begin with: to draw my little dudes looking all dramatic and shit
