Description Here is a study concept of my new version of the Spellbreaker armor. Nevermind the fact that there is an Anglo-Saxon-themed human helmet on the top of the page--I was merely dawdling with Ancient Arathi armor concepts as well.
Anyway, the Thassamari Spellbreaker Armor is heavily based on Blizzard's Blood Elf version, only with more feathers. While I was learning about how scale armor is made in real life, I decided to blueprint a version, where there are two loops beneath a "feather" for a scale and a hook at the end of the "quill". This design ensures that the hooked quill will be crimped around one of the loops of another scale above it.
The feathered scale will also have velvet (or something akin to velvet) wrapped around the loops and matted behind the scale. This is so when the wearer moves, the armor will not make a clinking sound, as elves are meant to be silent warriors when needed be. The Feather Scales are also said to be spring-tempered, light-weight, and flexible, because they'll literally cover the entire Spellbreaker's person.
As for the profile view of the new helmet design, I stretched the feathers backward so when the elf does need to run, the foliage will sweep over the helmet, whereas it will not with the skyward blood elf version: the blood elf mask would simply fall over the elf's head like wind-blown piece of cardboard.
Another reason I fancied some scaled armor is because, with all due respect, I see the great big tanks for shoulderpad versions as something redundant, and I thought, "Hey, why not fancy something else for a change?" Not that I ever discourage Blizzard's Battle Tank Armor for power, because I use that design on different occasions.
To think I'm into drawing feather-themed armor sets lately...
