"Of course not! I'll always remember you, Mattie! You're my best friend! No matter how long it takes me, I'm gonna come back, just wait!"

Matthew smiled faintly. "I'm going to miss you, (Name). It won't be the same around here with you gone."

You grabbed his hands and squeezed them. "You won't be alone! You'll still have your brother, and Tim and Katy, and I bet you there are other people who are your friends that you forget about. And I promise I'll come back, so you'll have me too, eventually. Wait for me, Matt. Anyway, I have to go now. I'll see you sometime soon, okay?" You said, staring deep into his eyes.

He nodded and squeezed back before letting go and watching you walk away. "Okay..." he whispered.

What happened to 'I'll always remember you'? Matthew thought, watching you silently from his hammock. You were outside with Alfred. On the same field you made your promise to him on. After almost seven years of studying abroad, you had finally come back to (Country you live in), and the blond had been overjoyed at your return.

But you might as well have been someone else, you were so different. It seemed like you had forgotten your past with him, erased all your memories. You barely even acknowledged him. If you ever bumped into him, you would either mistake him for his brother, or just ignore him completely and get on with your day.

"Yo, (Name)!" Alfred. He stole you away. Almost the second you came back, he was all over you like a rash. And all it took was one grin from the blond and a burger. Matthew could've sworn that every time Alfred dragged you away to some place when Matthew was around, he would always make a big deal out of it and throw that obnoxious grin of his Matthew's way, probably just to add insult to injury. He knew how Matthew felt about you, and that just seemed made it all the more satisfying that he had been able to take you away.

Matthew watched as you turned halfway at the sound of his brother's voice, only to be tackled into the grass by the overly-energetic blond. He wasn't that far away from the two of you, and his jaw tightened as he listened to your laughter mixed in with his brother's.

He remembered when that laugh of yours had been reserved for him alone, and how he never usually had to try to make you giggle. Now, only Alfred could make you laugh. Whether it was by tickling you, creeping up on you or giving you presents, whenever he was around, he would always do something to you that would make you unable to hold your laughter in.

He sat up from his hammock and watched closely as you sat up and grinned at the blond who was now lying in the grass, a goofy smile on his face.

He knew the two of you had been dating for while now, but it didn't hurt to see your displays of affection any less than it did three months ago. He didn't want to see this. And yet, he forced himself to watch as you slowly bent down, caressing Alfred's face, and kissed him. Matthew felt sick to his stomach watching the two of you. Half blinded by tears, he pushed himself out of his hammock and ran inside, not wanting to see any more.
