It's a metaphor, I'm really not going to expound on that.Hmm. I feel like I should anyway: it's a depiction of Tean's love, and how it's manifested, or expressed primarily by violence. A molotov cocktail is a simple device, easily assembled, and used to devastating result.
It's like a zip gun: it's a poor man's expression of hatred.

That makes me tremendously giddy, that statement.
And yes, it is a tattoo! It's so fully bad ass it's unbelievable! It's also incredibly symbolic for the character.
