well, this is pretty dang awesome. I'm incredible late in commenting on it, it would seem.

With a description like that, I'm already assuming he's like one of those creatures who seems peaceful on the surface, but when awakened, they assume some eldritch abomination-esque form and eat you whole in seconds.
ALSO, this is quite some gorgeous work with pencils. Very detailed

First off all. The whole being one with a tree concept fits the style in wich you have drawn
this piece very well.
I especially like the headwear the resembles teeth very much. The realistic eye
adds a very macabre detail to it that suggest that human flesh has been consumed
just recently!
I have to say that i like the fact that you can think both good or bad about this creature.
I don't know why but i find it quite peaceful and not at all threatening. But that's the game

Seriously there is a nice flow of line from the foreground to the background, and I think if you offered him a sandwich he might smile upon you and forgive the intrusion.
