Big one, I loved Iceland... But if you want to see a really big fall, come to Brazil to check Iguazu Falls

One day...

If you do so, plan to visit both sides (Brazilian and Argentinian). You need at least two days for this (one for each side), although one or two more would be good. AVoiding holidays is also highly recommendable...

Plan to visit Itaipú (the hydroelectric plant, the largest in Brazil and one of the largest in the world) also!

It's so far off and I really haven't done any research. The only thing I know is that I will try to circumvent the crowds as best as I can. I'll keep your suggestions in mind!

Wow... I hope you remember. And I hope I remember something about this subject also

I'm kind of kidding. I just have so many destinations I want to visit, will move next year and start a job etc. so I have to figure out my finances and time. It will be before 2050 I'm sure but I literally can't say when or how it will happen...

I hope you can make it before.
What are the places currently in your travel list?

eegariM In reply to rwetzel [2018-12-27 17:13:39 +0000 UTC]

Eh, from the top of my head countries/places I want to visit:

- northern Italy and Cinque Terre

- northern Norway/Scandinavian Mountains (possibly multiple trips)

- Croatia

- Pyrenees (France/Spain)

- Tatra Mountains (Poland/Czech Republic)

- north-eastern Iceland

- some places in Germany (e.g. saxon switzerland)

- Japan (2 trips)

- South Korea

- Canada (at least another 3 trips)

- USA (another 3 trips)

- Gilgit (Pakistan)

- New Zealand

- some places in the Alps (probably multiple trips)

- Argentina

- Caucasus Mountains

- Scotland

- Drakensberg (South Africa)

And there is probably more which isn't on my mind atm. I haven't made a list. I probably should although I fear it makes me realise that it's way too ambitious...

That is an ambitious task, but anyway it is better to have a list and then picking up one option at a time, right? The list will never be completed, just changing lol

Some common points with my "informal list" (I did not put it in paper also ) A few places I didn't think of also.. in short:

Common wishes:
- Italy (no specific plans yet. Been around Cinque Terre on a single day and my wife thought the villages did not look good... but we had o time for the walks between villages, which seem to be the best).
- Norway/Scandinavia (I've been to Norway once in winter, but wouldn't mind coming back...)
- Croatia (I've visited Dubrovnik for a single day, heard that there is much more to see in the country)
- Iceland (spent about two weeks doing the ring road, would like to go again...)
- Germany (no specific plans, visit some medieval towns and nature spots)
- Canada (no specific plans, rocky mountains?)
- USA (west coast, grand canyon, antelope canyon... need to study more)
- New Zealand
- Argentina (next region would be the north - around Jujuy. Would go back to Patagonia also, buth the extreme south as well as Bariloche)
- Scotland (go as far north and west as possible and grab some whisky also)

I would add some "icy places" (Alaska, Greenland and/or Antarctica), some beaches (Tahity?, Caribbean region...), maybe Australia, some places in Brazil (Diamantina tableland, Guimarães tableland, Jalapão, one tour in the amazon region including a "forest hotel" stay, some beaches in the northeast region, Urubici surroundings in the south, maybe some caves in PETAR park...).

Japan would be an opportunity. Possibly go back to Portugal and Spain (but going for new places). Possibly the Alps (switzerland / Austria / Italy).

I did not think of places such as Pakistan, South Korea, Caucasus, Poland or South Africa... at least not yet

Lots of overlaps, I see. I agree that it's better to have a list and pick from there. We don't have nature in Germany btw.

Come on, you do have some nature in Germany... for instance, check some pictures from TheChosenPesssimist
BTW, he also has some very nice pics from Iceland.

We do have landscape, we don't have nature. There is a difference. I have been watching him for a long time btw.

Oh, well, that's right. I like landscapes anyway , and also still like the small medieval towns...

Sure. Mighty waterfalls, one of many in this beautiful country.
It is still smaller than Iguazu Falls however
