Agree... The sky and the stars are beautiful.

Interesting how the old cultures would look at the sky (no TV? ), and we don't do this anymore... Then people are amazed of how much these old cultures knew about the sky and its cycles. Well, we - or the scientists of our time - know much more than old cultures, but society in general just seem to have lost the interest...

When you live in a big town, you forget how much the sky is beautiful and a lot of people forget that...it's sad. I have to take my car and go more than 50 km from my house to see the milky way...

Here we have a night in august, called Stars night (when Earth is in Perseid cloud and there are a lot of shooting stars) calling all people to look at the sky once a year Β

That's right... I live in a big town. 50km away, I still cannot see the milky way (in most directions, I would still be in the metropolitan area ).Β
I found out there is a site that maps light pollution -Β darksitefinder.com/maps/world.…

Yep, I'm in Southern France, near Marseille, the place is REDΒ Β Β Β but we have a mountain to the north (Sainte Victoire, the one painted by Van Gogh ), if you go on the other side, you can avoid most of the light pollution Β

This map is our nightmare, but it's quite beautiful too...

Yep, light is good.. but sometimes bad.
I'm in SΓ£o Paulo, so the place is "white". 50km puts me in RED , but it does help a lot if you're in the countryside.
