I do like that the character of Webby got a lot better in the Ducktales reboot, but I can't help but feel like they just took the character type of Mabel Pines from Gravity Falls, and applied it to Webbigail. The two act dangerously similar, and honestly it can be a bit distracting.
But since the old Webby was basically just one of those "Girls cause problems and solve things in innocent ways" type characters, I'm glad that the newer one at least has some character to her personality. I like the reboot version much better in that regard, as the character is more then just "Huey, Dewy and Louie are doing something bad Nanny!"

I definitely see the similarities between Webby and Mabel, both being cheery, excitable girls, but it doesn’t seem to me like a direct personality transplant. For one, Webby is quite socially stunted as opposed to Mabel and also seems a lot more studious and honestly a little creepy sometimes.

That's fair enough. But Webby also seems quite creepy at times. Such as when she first meets Huey, Duey and Louie and instantly ties them up and interrogates them if they are working for Gloomgold, the Beagle Boys or Magica DeSpell..
The key major separation; is Webby is socially distanced and doesn't know how to make friends due to this. While Mabel is more of a social butterfly who tries hard to be friends with others; which keeps them from being the same. But their personalities definitely seem very sound. But I mean... it's not like the original had much personality to begin with, so it doesn't damage anything. (Heck: The Developers clearly knew this. In that same scene she interrogates the boys, you can see a doll of her old design with an arrow jammed in it).
