I never got how to use that shading layer =.= normally I just alpha lock the layer and do soft shading
but never the less a very insighful and humorous and entertaining tutorial! Thank you!
(I couldn't stop laughing after I read your shading stage)

These are brilliant. About how long do you spend on a drawing?

hi what lightnings and filters do you use?
π: 0 β©: 1
Ry-Spirit In reply to kuroso [2013-11-19 13:33:59 +0000 UTC]
just sharpen for the filter. and for lighting i start a new layer and color in some orange/red/yellow on area i wanna be brighter or glow. then i change that layer to color dodge as well as other layer options to see if it works, i also alter the opacity of that layer to compare how vibrant it is.

;u; The last magic step is always the hardest for me to pull off, my final work is always a little too dull on DA.

Hi rez i just checked out your gallery. Well if u really wanna bring more life to your work. U can always turn up the saturation a bit. And make the shade darker while the non shade area brighter to create a greater contrast. Alternatively adding little reflections and like a single dot of white light spot is also a great idea!

U can also alter the strength of the magic wand. Err theres a number on top that u can change, the higher the number the more powerful it becomes.

Oh... these settings never seem to work for me. When I give it average power, there's a lot of space left - and then I expand the selection by 1 pixel - and it's too big! :c So I choose more power, and it makes weird edges...
I guess I'll have to figure out how to make better linearts or something like that.

Ry-Spirit In reply to ynne-black [2013-11-08 21:48:55 +0000 UTC]
If u expand by 1 pixel n its too big. Ur page setting might b too small. I suggest workin on an a4 page with 300 dpi. Thats wat i use

Mayb i will! Cos theres actually more than just clicking. Somtimes u need to expand or contract the area

Amazing, Ry!
I had one question, dit you make this in Adobe Photoshop?
If so, would you care to tell me what kinds of brushes you used?
π: 0 β©: 1
Ry-Spirit In reply to glitch-ish [2013-11-07 23:11:18 +0000 UTC]
Yes photoshop. I just use a circuler brush on hard. And make that opacity ranging from 30% to 90% dependin on the situation.
