Description Finaly some good pictures of my warriors that took me sooooooooooooooooooo long to paint. I am very happy with the outcome though so it was worth it (even though they always die ingame.

If im honest i got pretty lazy towards the ened of painting the skin so there are a few harsh highlights. so from now on i will be painting units in batches rather then large units just so i dont rush and ruin them.

im especialy happy with the tallons but i think i could do with a thinner brush for more details.

Hope you guys like them. if any one has any questions please fel free to ask

Can honestly say as far as I know its an original scheme I made up but chances are someone has something similar.

Very splendid models!

You have quite a nice color scheme going on for your army. I didn't think you could do much with gray skin, but you proved me wrong. The orange stripes stand out very well, and I really love the blending work you did on the talons. The colors transition very well. (What ones did you use, if I may ask? Black, Bestial B., Snake Bite, Bleached Bone, and Skull White?)

Why, even the bases look very professional. I'd definitely call this an A class job! Keep up the good work.

The colour scheeme was the first that poped into my head and im really happy ith how it turned out. Grey can be a pretty uninteresting colour to use which is why i made the carapace more interesting.
the tallons were done using scorched brown, bestial, snake bite and a mix of snake bite and bubonic, bubonic, bubonic with bleach bone, bleach bone and a final mix of bone and white. takes a while but worth it

the bases are not quite as interesting as the rest, infact i have re-based most of my minatures befor spraying them lol.

thanks for the really nice comment if you like what you see then keep an eye on me as i will be posting up more minatures. im in the middle of creating a warrior prime at the moment and so far its the most work on a conversion i have ever done

I can imagine, but their shells are simply stunning. And not cute stunning either, more like the threatening kind. Now were these simply models to show off, or are you actually going to field them? With the points saved using just the scything talons you could add a few biomorphs in there

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ryanja In reply to squirrels-are-evil [2010-07-25 00:44:39 +0000 UTC]

Nah these arnt show offs otherwise I would have done something more interesting with the bases. To he perfectly honest I got pretty lazy towards the end. I'm working on some hormagaunts at the moment and even though there smaller I think so far they are looking better and have slightly more interesting markings on the plates.

I gave them all gallons so they almost never miss but if I'm honest I rearly feiled them as they are.too small a unit. I'm working on making a unit if 9 all with 2 bone swords >

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ryanja In reply to Airesyll [2010-07-15 23:44:23 +0000 UTC]

thanks
nope no tripod or time delay just macro and flash. i took these pictures outside in slight shade so there were not to many shadows. im pretty happy with how the pictures came out especialy the one which is looking up to the warrior.

Tyranid Warriors from the tabletop strategy game Warhammer 40,000. You might also have heard of Dawn of War, the RTS computer game based upon the tabletop version.

beautiful, makes me think of those poisonous caterpillars [link] did you use an insect or animal as a plan for the colour scheme. looks great

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ryanja In reply to Soul-Daemon [2010-07-15 23:48:29 +0000 UTC]

HA! your right the whole colour scheme is pretty similar
as far as planning out the colours for my nids i did a scetch and planned out how i would place the lines but when it came to painting i changed how they looked lightly. The colours wer the first idea that came to me and i thought it was pretty unique, the last thing i want is to have a common colourscheme for my nids

some of the bigger creatures will have slightly different capapace shapes especialy the lictors

Well... the nids I fought... or lets say "the nids I fed", where really good... they faced me with 2 alpha Trygons and 2 winged big bugs (whatever they era named... some synaptic creatures, too).
They chewed my entire army... only loosing the gaunts...
