Description Here's a little sketch I did to (hopefully) give to a famous J-pop singer Olivia. She's going to perform this weekend for the first time and I'm going to attend the concert. There's supposed to be an autograph session, so hopefully I'll get to meet her.

Here's a little background...She was one of the performers that got me into j-pop around '98. She was part of a group called D&D.

She also "became" the inspiration for one of my characters. I had a character who was also mixed Japanese-Caucasian. She had hot pink hair. This was even before Freefall from Gen 13.

This pic conicedentally is from a photo with pink lighting, so she doesn't really have pink hair, but maybe not by accident I went with this photo

Also, I haven't really touched acrylics in a while, and colored pencils, so I thought I'd give it a go. This is actually the second try. I completely botched the first one...I couldn't even see my lineart under the paint.

Well, hopefully I'll get to meet her!

I haven't a clue about who she is, but she really looks radiant! I may be infected now with an interest in finding out who she is.

She's a j-pop artist. I saw her at a local animecon, which was her first american concert. I also got her autograph on a poster and gave her this pic.

I recommend her album the Lost Lolli. Her first all English album. Great songs...I think I'm going to go listen to it

Wow, first thing that came to mind was Sienkewicz'z Elektra: Assassin and meant completely as a compliment.

Thanks! That really is a compliment. I've been a long time fan of his. IN FACT! Good eye! Even tho I mostly copied it from a photo, I actually was looking at Sienkiewicz's "Pre-cursor" book, which has a lot of his water color paintings and sketches. I was looking for how he used colors to contrast and how he applied brush strokes.

I need to find more of his works to study.

I painted it on watercolor paper.

*UPDATE* I just got back from the concert. I saw Olivia's concert...it was great! But best yet, I was able to get a poster of her's signed and I gave her the pic!!!

I saw her up close for a few seconds. She was only signing for a little bit, and they were rushing everyone. But I told her it was a drawing and she said thanks! A bit of a surreal feeling cuz I never thought I'd meet her cuz she's from Japan.

Wow, I feel like a fanboy.

Good luck there man. It'd be a rush to see a respected artist receive one of your own works. Nice picture by the way too.

Thanks...just hope the security doesn't jump me and rip up the pic...haha.

I got a black matte frame for it today, so it looks put together.
