No. A lot of times I do digital layouts first, then print it out and do finished pencils over the digital scribbles.

If by "hard to get" you mean "expensive as all hell" then I agree. Anyway... I saw in one of your previous posts that you only really use the cintiq for layouts, that you print out your roughs and finish the drawing in pencil. Why do you do it this way as opposed to finishing the drawing on the cintiq?

Because I like original art. I like drawing things on paper. EXCEPT for the initial stage of composition. That is easier on a Cintiq, finishing on a Cintiq, to me, is not easier.

Awesome pic man- anything "behind the scenes" is pretty great. "oh that's how..." 2 questions though-
1.) I have base model iMac from 2011 juuuuust before they rolled out the new models. Some have said that it may not be able to keep up with a Cintiq. Something about large images and large files? any thoughts/tips on this? have you had any issues?
2.) That printer you were talking about with Panosian? right now i'm using an HPscanner/printer that really only works for 8.5 x 11 - is the one you guys were talking about bigger? does it scan larger images? Also, when you say you can't print on heavier paper- does that mean/include card stock? or heavier stuff? I could really go for a cheap and large scanner/printer. If you guys use one that would do the job, that would narrow down my search. As a self-taught guy late to the game, it's mostly trial and error for me. Any tips would be appreciated.

1. Mine works fine.
2. Yes, the printer/scanner combo is 11x17. It's a BROTHER, you can get it from Office max, or anywhere online. Only 300, you can find it for cheaper on Ebay or Amazon I hear. It does cardstock, it just has a hard time with really thick bristol board.
