Description (Ok first off I know this form isn’t just called Blaster, I have seen the movies but I’d rather not have to say its full name here. Soo for this article I’ll just be calling it Blaster. Gotta keep things PG here lol)

After a majority of the Shrieker horde fell, people thought their reign of terror was over, but it wasn’t until gigantic wings emerge from the rubble did people know the situation they where now in. Meet the Mongolian Blaster, a creature that doesn’t just look mythical but has abilities that need to be seen to believe.

Mongolian Blasters, like their predecessor are noticeably larger than your typical blaster, being 20ft long with a 28ft wingspan (being just under the length of a Graboid). Compared to other species it is noticeably more primitive, with its iconic ‘rockets’ being little more than a vent that aids in maneuverability, with its wings doing the rest. Lacking fins and rockets this it uses a pair of bat like wings to fly, however due to its size and weight it’s not as agile as it’s cousins nor can it fly as far, but it does have adaptations to help deal with that.

Normally Blasters produce very few eggs but a single Mongolian Blaster produces 50 to 100 eggs at the least and will lay one each time it lands. This way it’s low stamina becomes an advantage as more eggs are placed, although this does make it more vulnerable to attack. Once eggs are placed the Blaster hastly covers it in dirt before regaining its stamina and taking flight once more. The eggs produced are only the size of a baseball, making this process a lot easier on the parent creature.

Like its predecessor the Mongolian Blasters isn’t known for its intelligence but it makes up for that with sheer firepower and durability. Due to how primitive its jets are, this species is near impossible to explode if hit in a specific place and on top of that, can tank a surprising amount of weaponry. This alone makes it one of the most dangerous blasters known but what truly tips it over the edge is it’s hidden weapon, it’s flammable acid spray.

Since morphing from a Shrieker, its body began producing a volatile chemical from a sac that’s been developing the entire time. Throughout the Shrieker faze the constant acid drooling was an unintentional, but affective, side affect of this gland pressing on the salutatory glands, but since moulting, these glands connected up to produce something far more dangerous. No longer does it have acidic drool but instead it can spit said acid as far as 50ft away, and worst of all, it’s now mixed with a flammable chemical that causes it to ignite like oil, coating everything it touches in a melting, flaming inferno!

This unique chemical has yet to be identified but shares a lot of unique properties with oil, down to its almost rainbow sheen and smell. it seems to ignite when exposed to air however, often being alight seemingly as soon as it leaves the creature’s mouth. Research into this substance could prove useful but due to difficulty obtaining it without igniting it and the scarcity of Blasters leads many to put it on hold for now.

Of the 6 that moulted only 3 are accounted for, 2 being killed in combat while raiding villages and the third being taken out by the returning military. The remaining 3 have yet to be seen, presumably returning deep into the desert to lay its many eggs, starting the cycle anew.

we don’t know how long it will be until the local Graboids cause a chain of destruction once again, could be 100 years, could be 1000, but one thing is certain, it will happen again, and hopefully this time, we are better prepared,.

Ok there’s the plot and now for the design

i think it’s pretty clear what design I was going for here, I basically just made a wyvern blaster. Its foldable wings, long tail and horned head were all greatly inspired by wyverns with its flaming acid being inspired by one dragon in particular, the Deathgrippers from the HTTYD franchise. When designing the Graboid I knew what I was going for with its acid breath but I wanted to spice it up for the final stage, originally I wanted to tie in the Mongolian death worm-esk electrical abilities but quite early one I thought just making the acid on fire feels more natural. I might use the electric Graboid idea again, maybe for an aquatic species, idk that could be fun.

Tune in whatever I feel like it for the dirt dragon and now this Mongolian spieces will be done!
