Julian had been working with Windy and Nina for over a year now, and the girls work very well together. However, since he is so busy as a stable manager and trainer, he doesn't get as much time as he would like to work with them. Windy is a calm and well adjusted mare, who had quite a bit of harness work experience when he bought her. Nina, on the other hand, was mostly untrained. She is a goofy mare and likes to make everything into a game. Thankfully, they work well together and have a nice evenly matched gait. Julian had hitched them up several times to go around the stable, but he couldn't help but be a little nervous before his first show.
Harper had done extra chores for a week before asking Julian if he could ride along as a passenger for the show. When he saw the look on the younger man's face he couldn't say no. Harper was training in show jumping, predominantly, and didn't know his way around a harness. He was not much help, but the excitement showed on his face.
Julian had to hold back a laugh when he showed up. While Harper was usually in straight-laced English gear, he had borrowed Michael's hat and come in a full western outfit. He thought it made sense after he climbed into the driver's seat. The over-excited Harper and his...uncharacteristic...outfit went well with his flashy mare Nina, while Julian's calmer and plainer style matched well with Windy. Rather than being opposites, he decided they were complimentary.
