...yes that is a reference to 'Snakes on a Plane.' = - = I never saw that movie but it seemed funny what with it's stupidity. Anyway time for random fluff. :3

Zuko stood alone, his hand gripping onto one of the ropes of the balloon, leaning out to get the whole view of the dark sky. The stars were so clear tonight, but still a few clouds floated along, dampening their brightness.

He couldn't sleep; there was too much on his mind. He was nervous about the others on the ship with him, the ones who were finding it so difficult to accept him (not that he blamed them.) Especially he was nervous about her.

A noise broke the silent melancholy of night, the creaking of a footstep from somewhere behind him. The firebender turned, trying to make out the figure in the dark. She seemed a little unsure of who she was meeting as well, until a spark flashed and the flame in Zuko's hand identified one to the other.

"K-Katara..." he said, retracting the hand he had held out, the light somewhat dimming. The waterbender stood silently, tightening her hold on the blanket wrapped around her, walking silently to join Zuko at the edge.

"I can't sleep," she muttered, somewhat stiff, averting her eyes from the firebender. "I'm not sure why, but somehow there's a difference between riding on an airship and riding on a bison." She giggled a little as she said it, though it was muffled, like she was unsure if she should be laughing. Not sure if she wanted to express anything to him.

"...do you wish you'd been on Appa with the Avatar and your brother?" Zuko asked, both still avoiding the gaze of the other. At this, though, Katara turned to look at him, shaking her head.

"Actually, I don't think there's much of a problem with it. I'd rather-" she stopped, realizing she didn't know what she was about to say. Zuko, for the moment, dismissed it. They reverted back to silence.

The waterbender shivered, trying again to pull her thin covering around herself. Zuko caught the motion out of the corner of his eye, debating in his mind to say something.

"You cold?"

"Just a little."

He turned his head toward her, only to see that Katara had done the same. Their eyes met for the smallest moment, before each turned away, a rush of heat turning both their faces a pinkish red.

Katara's ears perked up at the sound of a footstep, noticing that the fire prince had taken a small step, in her direction. She hesitated a moment before putting her foot out. The tension seemed to dissolve and they found themselves standing very close, Katara's shoulder brushing very lightly against Zuko's.

"You must have watched the stars a lot," Zuko remarked in almost a whisper, leaning his elbows on the railing. Katara opened her mouth, closed it, then nodded slowly.

"Ya, I guess so," the waterbender responded, smiling. "It's especially pretty tonight," she added. She shivered, yet again. Zuko watched her attempting and once again failing to get any warmer.

He followed the impulse without even realizing it, and it was too late to draw back before his arm was lifted, his arm wrapping around Katara, hand resting on her far shoulder.

She seemed to stiffen at the motion, and Zuko almost withdrew; but she began to relax, accepting it, enjoying it in fact. A smile crept onto her face. She shifted, leaning into the prince's arms, suddenly feeling much hotter as her heart beat faster.

Their gazes met again, this time both grins, turning away to look out at the dark navy sky. Zuko nodded.

"Ya, it definitely is beautiful..."

Oh my god I suck at fluff. Dx It dragged oooon and ooon and ooon. Oh well it was fun to write and that's what counts. This was also fun to draw. It toolk a litle while but man LOOK IT'S A DECENT BACKGROUND. Good background + Zutara = <3. Hopefully coming up soon I will actually draw something Christmas-themed. Just to get me in the spirit because it's hard for me to believe Christmas is actually a week away. xD
