Description Made with Ultrafractal 4.03

Hi y'all - I was looking thru my gallery and realized I hadn't shown any of my "geofractal" pieces here and thought I'd better fix that and so here's probably my favorite one. It's actually a rework of this one here - [link]

I'd gotten a comment from Cliff Tolputt (clifftoppler) - I THINK - just took a look and either it's been changed or I dismembered (lol) and it was someone else whose opinion I value highly. Been a good while. Butanyhow, I was always a little iffy about the colors in the stylized fractal sun and decided to redo that part recently, so now it's "yellow-orange-ish" and I liked it so much I had an 18x24 canvas archival giclee' print made of it for my wall. (it's for sale if anyone's interested - lol). I think the new colors really made it "pop". Gets tough when you have a ton of stacked layers - at times you become sorta painted into a corner by different merge modes used and I had to mask off a bunch of layers to get them to keep their fractally mitts off'm the sun. Hope y'all like this type of "fractstract". I was really into this style for a while. It uses the IFS Barnsley+Jock III formula in the "jock.ufm" folder if anyone wants to check that one out - tough to work with but worth it!

c-ya!
Rick

I really like this Rykk - but I can't help but wonder what's outside the small part you framed here.

For instance I'd love to see what's hiding in the shadows over there on the left side ......

Thanks! LOL - Actually, I had occasion to find out just that when I had to add 1.5" of "bleed" to the image for a gallery wrapped canvas print. I almost regretted finding out because I had to do a good bit of work doing things like extending the Clipping mappings that were only made big enough to reach just past the edge of the image when I intially made it. And there was a 1" swatch of sorta electric blue/white that extended down vertically just to the left of "Elroy Jetson" - the oval. I had to make new layers and masks so that the difference in colors was much less. That's the rub about gallery wrapping: you have to make sure that the part of the image that wraps around the stretcher bars looks as good or nearly as good as the "face" of the image.

A nice bit of artwork - I think the yellow sun is a distinct improvement on the original too, it adds so much more warmth, colour and vibrancy to the piece.

Thanks, Coco! Sorry about the lack of posts - I reckon I'm just really picky about what I show to anyone other than Lars, my dog - lol. I've never been one to just post "what I made 2day" and try to just show the - hopefully - "good" ones that can sometimes be few and far between for me...

Sorry I didn't reply... been rebuilding the Mac..... had a few issues with Leopard so I reinstalled Tiger and been busy rebuilding..... Next up for axing is Vista.... Gonna partition and put XP in there and build it up as I downsize and ultimately axe Vista.... (If I had had the choice I would never have taken it - Just that I got a great deal for the machine I bought (particularly with its specs... though granted its not a 64 bit...).

Cant wait for the next windows (NOT)!!! Mr Bill is now thinking in terms of next year instead of 2010. Maybe they will have fixed explorer in that time but the rest won't work!!!! F***ing wonderful OS!

Amazing work!!

I love how you have combined the unique embossed shapes to give a wonderful 3D depth perspective.

Wonderful gradual red shading behind the diagonals, giving depth to that area. Also the complimentary shadow running parallel to the diagonals...
Gorgeous contrasting coloring...

Thanks! All the texturing work was done to give this one a "hand painted" look once it was printed. Glad you like the colors!
