Meet my Arcane Idol! She’s known by her online nickname Cyber_Spirit. She’s an indie game developer working alone on her own small projects: arthouse video games. She does everything herself: writing stories, coding, creating art. Equipment, that Cyber_Spirit uses to do that is her trusty laptop. She never expected to have a huge success, so she just did what she enjoyed most and shared her art with a small group of fans.

But everything changed one day, when she discovered а magic talisman. Of course she had no idea what it was at first, she just bought a pretty flash drive in a small gift shop at the edge of town. The flash drive looked like a crystal and she thought it was cute, so why not buy it? But when she plugged it into her notebook, something very strange happened! She found herself inside virtual reality. And she could rebuild it from the inside, making any changes she wanted. She didn’t need to draw or code anymore, now she could create and destroy objects, places and characters like a cyber goddess. She could stay in the virtual world or go back to the real one when she wanted, as long as the flash drive was plugged in her computer. With powers like that she could create cyber artworks unlike anything ever made before. And her games had a strange influence on people, everything seemed so real to people playing the game, like they were in the virtual world too. Of course Cyber_Spirit always wants to keep her talisman with her, so she wears it on her neck when she’s not using it.

Cyber_Spirit wants to use her powers for good, she doesn’t want her games to be an escape from reality, instead she tries to ask hard questions about the real world, the state it’s in. She contemplates the nature of reality, and wants her players to learn more about their minds, bodies and souls. She’s often present inside her virtual world, like an invisible guide, helping players, that’s why she’s called a spirit. She gathered an army of fans worldwide, and they created a logo to show their love for her. The big circle represents the real world, and the grid inside of it - the virtual world, the eye shape is the all seeing eye of Cyber_Spirit watching over players while they are in her game, a heart is a symbol of love the fans have for their idol, and infinity symbol is a symbol of infinite wonders and mysteries of both the virtual world and the real one.

I drew Cyber_Spirit floating in the virtual world, deep in the creative process, her tangled hair represents her thought process. She’s dressed in a T-shirt with her logo. The color palette was inspired by early video games and the way they looked: endless void with bright, almost neon accents. I made my Arcane Idol a game developer, because creating video games on my own or in a small team was my dream when I was younger, so I decided to draw a character who fulfilled this dream.
