My third artwork for the year and it is yet another piece I'm just now finishing after a long, long time. My computer tells me I started this in November of 2016 and here we are, finally done in 2023.
I don't think it looks anything like I originally imagined it to be, but I did redraw every single character in this pic no less than twice (and some more)...Anywho, the inspiration came from my discovery of urban explorers visiting an abandoned Japanese theme park known as Nara Dreamland. If you've never heard of it, you can learn via Youtube. There was just something so cool about it in it's abandoned state. All the characters (minus the girl on the horse) are inspired by the actual park mascots and attractions. I guess I sort of saw it like the anime Amagi Brilliant Park if it was based on a real-life theme park. The pic really just turned out looking like a Disney Movie poster.
So make of it what you will. I think it makes a great prompt for a fictional story if anyone is looking for a story idea. Dreamland and it's characters © Kunizu Matsuo
