Description
The Black-capped Chickadee is a small and active bird. They are interesting birds, hiding food in hundreds of different locations, remembering those spots, and returning to collect food from them up to a month later. The Chickadee's call is also one of the most complex vocalizations of all animals. Their different sounds can act as a contact call, an alarm call, or to indicate recognition of a particular group of birds. I photographed this bird on a very slow day of birding, with temperatures in the low teens.Morris Island Causeway
