The films that paved the way for comic book and video game movies, and they proved that they can indeed be good and profitable (even though Superman: The Movie came first and was great too, Batman 89 took the superhero genre to a whole new level).

Both films went on to influence a lot of later incarnations of both franchises, especially Batman: The Animated Series and Mortal Kombat 11 (even Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge has quite a number of references and callbacks to Mortal Kombat 95).
