Description Here we are - the third of the D&D Pathfinder trifecta. Scourge is a black dragon who was raised from birth against everything he knew. From hatching he had a firm understanding of his ancestry and the power contained within. But try as he might, he found himself unable to fully rebel against his caretaker, Ezra, and he soon found his perspective on life growing more confused and shifting.

Scourge is a terrifying beast and a fright to behold. He fights without restraint, unleashing horrifying draconic fury on those that dare cross him. He remains true to his dark heritage of brutality and strength. And yet, his outlook has grown such that he turns his instincts into something different. He was amazed to find that in spite of his loyalty to his race and his draconic pride, a black heart such as his own managed to escape falling into evil.

Being around Ezra has shifted his alignment from Chaotic Evil to Chaotic Neutral. And a harrowing experience in a necromantic wasteland further changed his outlook. Now he fights with renewed purpose; never shying away from who or what he is, but instead using that to carve out his own legacy. One of power, yes. But one of compassion as well. For even a black heart can be purified.

---

So, after doing the Ezra picture, things seemed incomplete without finishing the trio. Plus, the latest Jackson & Jillian has just been tedious as hell to get through.

I'm super pleased with the pose he's got; rearing up to his hind legs in spite of being a quad. It was fun doing a more dangerous, alien-looking dragon; the multiple, beady red eyes made for a fun, unique touch. The only issue is that with Scourge being black, it can be hard to make his features and the lineart stand out. I'll keep working on that, but for now I think this turned out okay. No regrets.

EDIT: I didn't like the position of Scourge's right (left from our perspective) forearm, so I redid it from scratch. I like this a lot more, dood.

I have a good idea of what Ezra could end up. I might end up writing a bit of a backstory if you are interested.

Believe me if I know anything its how to be brutal.

Added: I don't know how close I can end up to your ideal brutal dragon but I can get close.

That story has already been written, dood. You should check out our weekly D&D Pathfinder games to see how these characters develop and grow. They happen most Tuesdays at 6:00pm Eastern time.

What did you write, dood?

DimentionJumper In reply to Ryusuta [2017-10-13 14:26:37 +0000 UTC]

I wrote a tiny amount of when scourge was laid. I wanted to go with a angry evil mother dragon approach and she was caged up for safety for everyone else. But that turned a bad when they had to put her down.

Well, I'd be happy to take a look at it when you get it finished, dood.

...Okay, I thought it would be dead since you already have his story written out and planed but if you want to see what I came up with then, I will finish it up.

I'd like to state as a viewer that Scourge manages to be one of the more fascinating characters I've seen in a Pathfinder game for some reason I can't explain. Maybe it's the fact that he joined the party out of a completely unexpected diplomacy check or just the fact that I'm a fan of the rogue-mindset setup (for lack of a better term.) Either way Scourge manages to be freakin' amazing... even if he seems to get himself into way too much trouble just for his scale color, there's no way to word that without it coming out as a racism thing, please don't judge me. ;w;

Awww... You have no idea how much that means to me. Scourge has definitely been a favorite for me as well. It's amazing how much all of it took me by surprise. <3

And honestly, it kinda IS a racism thing that makes people scared of him. Or at least specism. Hard for the average person NOT to be scared of an evil-looking black dragon, though, to be fair!

To quote one session: TACTICAL DRAGON INCOMING! (Crit)

Also, Rodney trusts scourge a lot, although he is sometimes worried that he might incur his wrath.

Oh god. I'm trying to remember when that happened, dood. XD

I'm so glad to know Rodney trusts and likes Scourge so much. That means a lot to me. I think inside, Scourge is basically fond of him as well.

Lord-Hayati In reply to Ryusuta [2017-10-03 03:00:55 +0000 UTC]

Basically, Scourge demolishing one guard with a confirmed Critical. XD

Thats good to know Scourge trusts Rodney... probably because he can easily get food from him. and maybe the fact hes probably older than some of the other characters.

Ryusuta In reply to Lord-Hayati [2017-10-13 14:14:29 +0000 UTC]

Food sources aren't an issue for Scourge. Scourge trusts Rodney because Rodney has given him no reason not to.
