Description As the green-clad hero had just finished up telling the Gerudo woman about the latest improvements in his swordsmanship class, the Prince of Hyrule strolled into the room.

"Hey Uncle Link, I - Oh, Auntie Rebé!" he jumps. "Wow, I didn't know you were in town!"

"Ah, Raphy, sweetie!" Rebé smiles as she parts her arms and moves to the young royal, giving him a hug that Raphy found to be kind of tight, but that's just how she always hugged him. "Link just got done telling me that you're quite the swordsman now!"

"Yeah! I know a lot of new stuff that guards don't teach me. I think Uncle Link's the best teacher ever!" Raphy raves.

"So you know how to defend against a hyrulean swordsman if one were to come at you?" Rebé inquires.

"I think so. I've never had it happen, so I don't know for sure. But I'm pretty confident!"

"Not everyone uses the same moves, though. The Gerudo style, for example, differs quite a bit. Especially when one mixes it with other styles. I know a fair number, myself."

"Really?" Raphy's eyes widen. "Can you teach me?"

"I could... but..." Rebé gains a youthful, almost mischievous grin. "I think it'd be interesting to see how ready for an assault you really are."

"Huh...?"

"Think of it as a pop quiz! I want to see how much Link has taught you. Let's have a little sparring match!"

"But...! I don't want to hurt you, Auntie..." Raphy frowns.

"Don't worry, we won't strike with much force. And I happen to have with me a couple of pink fairies so even if one of us does get hurt, we'll just have a fairy heal us."

"Well..."

"Your Uncle Link will be watching~"

At first, Raphy is a bit unsure, but in the end he smiles and nods.

"I'll show you that Uncle Link's the best teacher ever!"

"Good! Stand back and draw your blade!"

Raphy jumps back and so does Rebé, Link a bit confused on what just happened, but he keeps out of the way, ready to get involved if things get out of hand. He knows personally the Gerudo pride in their swordsmanship, so he hopes Rebé can keep a level head if she starts losing. But he also trusts Raphy's very strong for a boy his age and he's very skilled so maybe he can hold his own in this after all.

"You're just a small boy, but I see the eyes of a warrior. I'm going to love seeing how much of that warrior you can let out!" Rebé praises before draw a rather long cutlass!

(To understand this battle, think of how the fights are played in the games, not in actual reality, what the results would be.)

Rebé starts walking to Raphy with her blade raised. Raphy draws his Razor Sword and walks to her, both making a slight circle, sizing each other up. Then suddenly, Rebé walks faster towards him and with a small yell, she swings her blade, blocked by Raphy's holding up his sword to keep her strike away.

"Good move, Raphael!" Link calls in approval. Seeing Raphy use his sword to block so soon shows he's thinking about defense as well as offense.

Rebé swipes twice, Raphy just backing up to avoid. Rebé jumps to the side, then jumps forward, bringing down her blade, Raphy running in a circle behind her to avoid the strike and make a swipe of his own, landing a hit on her back! She yelps once and turns around with her sword out to return-strike Raphy, knocking him onto his back with a yell of his own!

He gets up pretty quickly and stands ready again. Rebé circles him as he circles her, then she comes closer to strike him, but is blocked by his sword. She jumps to the side and comes at him again, but he blocks her a second time. She swings twice, jumping back then jumping at him with a downward strike, Raphy performing the same tactic to move around her and land a slash of his own, but he holds up his blade again to block Rebé's returning spin. Again, they tussle in the same manner, Rebé's jumping strike failing her a third time in the end. She begins to breathe a little heavier.

"Heh... I see I'm not dealing with a beginner here. Well, you've proven you can take care of the Stalfos style with ease... but what about this?" the Gerudo grins as she draws her other sword in true Gerudo fashion!

She immediately moves at her quicker pace, her swords held at a very familiar stance, in Link's eyes. She swipes at Raphy, who's holding up his sword and backing up in a circle, Rebé somersaulting forward and striking again, then rolling and striking a third time before stopping her walks to wind back and spin with a jump! Raphy somersaults under her jump and when she lands, he's behind her and strikes her back again! She turns around and crosses her swords to defend from any more strikes.

Raphy figures he's been playing defense long enough. His confidence gets the better of him and he tries to overpower her by making strikes of his own against her swords. five times he strikes, but Rebé proves trickier than most Gerudo by suddenly lashing out with her crossed blades to throw Raphy back off his feet and onto his back! Raphy then thinks maybe he hasn't been playing defense long enough after all. Link can't help but give a nervous sigh, as sometimes you have to let your student make mistakes in order to learn.

Rebé circles Raphy a few times, but seeing as he's not bringing the fight to her, she moves forward with her triple strike and roll method. But this failing, she jumps over Raphy and tries to strike him fron behind, but he spins around with his sword out and blocks the strike. Rebé tries a single strike again, but Raphy swings as well to block her, now opting for a more aggressive kind of defense. Rebé pulls back and starts circling again. Then suddenly, she winds back and jumps with a spin, Raphy rolling under her and striking her back upon her landing. She recoils back and crosses her swords to block.

After a bit, she jumps over Raphy and tries to strike him, but Raphy swipes as well to stop her. She jumps again and Raphy swings around to stop the assault again. She jumps a third time and clashes blades with him again. She circles a little before swiping at him, only to get blocked. She somersaults once and swipes again, then a third time she rolls and strikes. This only being metal against metal, she jumps like earlier and Raphy jumps back to avoid getting hit. With the new distance, the Gerudo winds up and spins at him. Raphy dives-rolls under her and slashes her back.

"Mmph! You're strong!" Rebé grunts. "You could take care of a Gerudo Guard if you had to if you keep this up... But I'm not through yet! Try this!"

She straightens up and starts her new round of assault similar to her previous one, but this time, she doesn't circle very much at all. Her strikes are in rather quick repetition, keeping Raphy on his toes. But the next thing she does is something even Link hadn't counted on... She back flips twice to gain a considerable distance, then with a hop she charges forward, arms crossed! Raphy side-steps, but he's not far enough as Rebé slashes outwards and strikes Raphy on the side, throwing him over.

"She studied up on the Garo too...?" Link blinks. "Man... I'm glad I didn't have to face her in the fortress... Hang in there, Raph..."

Raphy gets up and Rebé begins her quick assault again, Raphy watching her moves carefully to know how to position his blade to block properly. But when she performs her garo-dash-strike, Raphy doesn't side-jump. He jumps as she comes very close and down-slashes her forehead Rupee! She yelps and blocks with her swords, but this makes her blind to the fact he landed behind her and he slashes her back yet again! But Rebé isn't done. In retaliation, she spins with swords outwards before back flipping off and garo-diving again! Raphy side-rolls around her then strikes up once he's behind her! She spins after getting hit and jumps back.

Now huffing and puffing, Rebé charges forward and starts her brutal quick strikes. She switches up one move, however and jumps back, winding up and jump-spinning. Raphy jumps to the side, then attempts to jump-slash her, but she back flips away.

"...! Did she just perfect that attack...?" Link blinks.

Rebé winds up a second time and jump-slashes, Raphy jumping back and tries to stab, but Rebé back flips off again! She jumps back and garo-dives at him once again, he jumps to hit her jewel and strikes her back once he lands! Rebé gives a shriek and falls into a kneeling position.

"Ugh... hah... hah... No one's ever gotten me like that before. You're quick in the head as well as your feet. I'm impressed," Rebé comments. "You're ready to take on pretty well anything! Link must be an excellent teacher."

"Uncle Link's the best!" Raphy smiles widely, puffing and panting, himself. "But whoever taught you must be great, too. I've fought monsters and nasties before, but YOU were the hard one!"

Raphy then holds his hand out to Rebé after sheathing his sword. Rebé smiles and she accepts the gesture, getting up.

"Seems that I was the one who was taught a lesson today!" Rebé smiles.

I'm experimenting a bit with Rebé here, as well. The Egyptian-like eye curls and the semi-vest/semi-Gerudo chest wrap. I hope you like it!

And I've not really done much in the way of duel scenes, so I know several parts of the composition are off. And if you're wondering why Rebé's right arm is positioned like that, she's just about to swing horizontally. So, my attempt, be it good or be it heavily flawed. xD; I tried. Both poses are simply out of my head.

Oh, Ryo is killer with a sword. He uses a claymore, a two-handed sword, with only one hand. His current blade, Heaven's Secret, has its blade on fire when it's drawn.

is there a pic of heaven's secret? does Raphy's blade have a name?

Oh sure. In my gallery, any time you see Ryo with a sword that has the wings of the Royal Family crest, that's Heaven's Secret.
Such as these: [link] [link] [link]

Raphy's blade is more or less a replica of the Razor Sword from Majora's Mask. So, I just simply refer to it as the Razor Sword as well.

is heaven's secret's flames a result of Ryo's powers as a fire god? or would it be like that if it's wielded by someone else?

The sword will be like that regardless. In saying that, only someone like Ryo can handle its heat.

I always liked how the Razor Sword looked, I just hated how it broke after 100 strikes.

The Razor Sword doesn't get enough love. I blame the smithy being cheap with his materials. I can't see him being the kind to give quality unless you give him the materials yourself, as the case with the Gilded Sword. Raphy's version was made in Hyrule by the Castle Smithy, so this sword is bound to stay in shape.

I've been trying to think of a unique sword for a Zelda OC I'm thinking of so I can get that out of the way first before making the character.

I dunno. I made Ryo before I made his sword, so I knew for sure it'd go well with him.

Well, when I was trying to create Cenaris, I had the problem of trying to find the right sword that complimented his design. It took me a while to find out the right one.
