Description A new amusement park opened that day in town. Every kid decided they'd just love to go. And that's what happened that Friday evening. Everyone, even those who were simply interested, went to the grand opening. This was a new kind of "journey" for a lot of special others who had some strange intents in mind, whether they were conscious of it, or if they had to find that out themselves. One such individual was Matteo. Him and his friend Iris were going to the fair together. Right out of a long work day, they decided to break their normal relaxation schedule to go. A few of their other friends would be going as well.

"We're in the park, where to first??" Iris asked, excited.

"That's for you to decide." Matteo replied kindly.

"Why don't we... Ooh! How about the spinning one!"

She pointed over to a giant metal pendulum. It was large and disc like at the bottom, and some people were strapped in on the outer edges. A few brave others were in the middle. Some seemed nervous, others were pumped. It was called, "The Disc of Doom." The ride had slowly started, the floor beneath their feet dropping, the pendulum raisin. The ride started swinging side to side until it began to swing 90°.

"How about no..." Matteo winced.

"Come on... Ok, why don't we try the Whiplash!"

This ride was much smaller than The Disc of Doom. There was an assortment of cars hooked up to a center tower. The cars raised up about three feet, (or about a meter for the rest of the world) and they spun in a counterclockwise fashion. The cars went inward and outward from time to time, and also spun. They seemed to be going really fast too.

"Do you want me to throw up on you?" Matteo argued.

"Yeah... You're right... Hey! Why not try the rollercoaster over there!"

This was the heart of the park. People flocked to this area like they were having a Black Friday sale with 80% off all items. This was a wooden and metal coaster that was at the peak of it's time. It was a nice coat of white, blue and green. It had a high start, and many other tricks and a dangerously fun finish. Many people were screaming happily. It would be a great start!.. If only the line wasn't an hour long wait...

"Well... Mayb--"

"Great!" she exclaimed, pulling him happily, all the way in line.

Matteo groaned as his friend yanked him across the way, but he knew this would happen, so he decided to just shut up and take it all in, so the fun wouldn't be spoiled.

They got on the ever winding line through many pointless cascades only to make the line longer. Listening to all of the conversations and screaming of children as they slowly and effortlessly milled along during the ever so tedious event.

"We're going on the first car Matteo!" Iris jumped.

"Sure." he agreed cordially.

"No hands on the way up!"

"Yeah."

"Scream really loud too!"

"Will do."

Quite a normal ordeal between the two when Iris was excited. Normally a more mellow girl for her perfectly serious guy friend, she likes to eek out her creative side more than he does, and tries to get him out of his shell of seriousness, like any teen of his age, that was Matteo.

The two strapped into their seats and got ready for the ride.

Iris started her fake screaming, and hinting at a few "Woo!"s here and there. Matteo smiled and laughed at her comical demeanor. Others joined her, and they also started a wave.

A beep and mumble from someone came from a loudspeaker, telling them general "I already know this" rules, and they began their ascent. Waves of hands still traveling and pumped emotions going wild. All but Matteo, who was happy, but kept it all to himself.

They hit the peak, and coasted downward, all screaming joyously, and laughing. Through twists and turns through the setting sun, everyone was enjoying the rush of the course, until it came to a sudden halt, lurching everyone forward. A collective "OOF!" came over from the crowd.

The two friends left the car, and ran towards the food stand. They were hungry for a snack that smelled positively delightful.

"What is that!?" Iris piped.

"It does smell awesome." Matteo said.

The two went and purchased "Flambeau" Fried Dough. Specially made dough glazed with some sort of orange glazing that made it look like the dough was on fire.

Iris ripped off a piece and took a bite. Her eyes swelled up, and she puckered up, spitting it out.

"That's terrible!" She cried.

Matteo then ripped off a piece. His eyes wallowed up, completely amazed with such a fiery flavor in something so sweet. He started shoveling it down his throat. Iris, completely lost from what happened. Before she could say something, it was already gone.

"I have to get that again!" he yelped, running back.

His need was short lived, the stand had closed.

He sighed, and sat back down, disappointed.

"Hey Matty... Why don't we go on the carousel?"

"Fine." he groaned.

The two headed for the grand carousel. Matteo spotted an interesting tan horse. It's hair a bright red. He decided to take a seat, and Iris sat on the horse next to him.

"Cool horse man." she said.

"I know, right?" he smiled.

And they rode the carousel a few more times then they'd thought, even if it wasn't as thrilling as the rollercoaster. Before they knew it, they'd wasted almost two hours laughing and talking. They weren't even aware the ride had stopped so many times. Nobody objected, it was only a carousel, so not many people even went on it. They would've had more fun, only until they got the announcement over the PA.

"Attention all guests, the park will be closing in TEN minutes. Please take your personal items and head to the exit of the park please."

The two looked at each other, bewildered. But, they got up and left.

It was only until the exit Iris realized something.

"Matteo! I left my bag at the snack stand!"

"I-I'll go get it. Wait here!"

He rushed back into the nearly abandoned park. It was no problem finding the snack stand. He remembered the scent of the amazing fried dough he had.

For some reason, he still smelled it... He found Iris's bag, but the scent made him wander behind the stand. It came from behind the door. He had to get it. He winded back, and smashed his body into the door. All he got was a bad headache. He fumed with anger... His temper started to... Manifest itself. His skin started changing to a pale cream color. He clenched his fists, and his wrists literally began burning. They flared up, matching his hunger and need. His hands burnt up and turned a blackish-brown color, in contrast to the bright burning flame. Next, his hair burned off, turning into a fiery mane of flames. It sparkled in all kinds of orange, yellow and red. Truly a masterful flame. His face extended out into a horse's muzzle, and one long horn grew from the center of his head. His clothes charred and burned up in seconds as his body temperature shot up, filled with fury and grace of fire. After that, he let loose lots of gas, and began to grow a large flaming tail. It went right along with his hot head. Lastly, his ankles spouted vagrant flames, and his feet melded into hooves. He neighed once in grace, and burned down the door. He ran right in, and lots of fresh fried dough was set out. He cooked all the dough to perfection, and snacked on the dough until morning. He was one happy horse that night! It's almost as if nothing could go wrong!
