anyhow, i got this idea mainly from news that kimberlite was found in antarctica recently. kimberlite is a mineral that, under extreme pressure, could be turned into diamond. kimberlite can be found on every continent, however those with the ~el dorado complex~ think that massive amounts of diamond deposits are underneath antarctica's glaciers.

probably not true, considering only 1-2% of kimberlite is diamond material, but there's really no stopping power-hungry countries that are after it ahakdfjg

recently russia and china have been more active in antarctica, and australia and new zealand in particular are starting to stress over it, getting it out as a reminder that mining in the icy continent is strictly forbidden under the antarctic treaty.
