okay lemme guess:
2 coloms of persian 3-1 (stainless from the look of it)
braided in with cords of either yarn or wool.

a nice bracelet, very intricate ^^

Hehe, you shouldn't have guessed... as written in the description, it's a stainless steel chain. The weave is called Great Southern Gathering (GSG).
The braid is done in embroidery thread.

Thanks for the compliment

hey,
yeah but I couldn't help myself
the stainless was pretty obvious, but I have never used GSG before.
I do however have a great deal of experience making persian 3-1 hex weave, (sheat)
and it looks exactly the same. there might be one place where it goes underneath in stead of over, but I'd have to get that piece out to check.

the braiding is a nice touch, though I don't know the difference between sewing thread and embroidery thread, as I have used both to do both.

Obviously =_= So, for the smart one... How were the braids added to the piece?

dunno, I'm guessing it's three strains of three colors, painstakingly woven into the maille. if it is that would have taken a lot of time. but I can't imagine how else it was done.

ps, sorry if i came on to be a smart-ass, but when I see two coments asking the same thing, i kinda feel like it's free to speculate on it

Ah-ha...

It's okay. Just remember that I asked that first x.x I don't like it when people do that... So, it's all good

it looks like the threads are done in crochet....i could be wrong though!

It's just a plain braid. I've done some crocheting a long time ago. But I never tried to combine it with chainmail.
(Maybe I will try to add some crochet detail to a chainmail bracelet someday...)

I do not have any crochet experience, nore examples to compare, so this remains one for the artist to explain.

i see....i have some experience with crotchteted items, and it looks like the artist crotcheted embroidery floss onto thee bracelet-a very ingenious idea!

indeed, and that is the truthfull beauty of chainmaille, it's a crude form that leaves many opportunities to be creative. to me it's that crude-ness that i find attractive. to others it may be the ability to combine it with other crafts. I know for a fact it works very well with leather.
