(Part 1 of Edgar’s Curiosities)

we were cursed the day we met as man and woman underneath the peach trees. It was a long time ago when we sat together in the cradle of a lazy summer’s afternoon; the air heavy with the perfume of your skin and sweet, ripening fruits turning from green to gold.
…It was a different time, on another planet, perhaps mercury, or was it Venus? It was a different life nonetheless; beautiful and cruel.
I was never the one to believe in fate. i believe we met and fell in love because I was 32 and you were pure, as the white of an elbow bone or an unborn child that lies protected underneath layers of fat and organs inside a mother’s womb. We were inseparable then, as we are now, that not even death caught us off guard when our hearts ceased to beat at the same second your breath turned cold and I forgot to blink for the last time.
The world we left behind was one that couldn’t understand us; a love between an old man and a new girl. society shunned us, looked upon our purity as something dirty; their laws based on a monochrome system of black and white. there were no grays, or pinks and blues and thus judgment was came down upon us from God’s heavy hands as if we were flies on a clean kitchen table.

Reincarnation blossomed in soft petals of purple. Open your eyes darling, we have become reborn as one, a young girl, sharing one heart as it always ought to have been. Alas, Cruelty seems to stalk us even in this life, though i did expect him to show a young girl with a little more mercy. Well, it seems that Cruelty is as relentless as Time and Death, even, if not more especially, to a girl with 3 eyes.
Cruelty, unlike Time and Death seems to have His favorites, and he came to us in the form of our own mother, who abandoned us in the bathroom trashcan where we tossed and turned with flies and rotting, half-eaten peaches; sticky and sweet; turning from gold to black.
Is there no place for two lovers to love freely?

a tall man happened to walk in then. Not by fate, but just because he had to use the bathroom and he was the kind of man that didn’t flush his used tissues in the toilet, but made sure to throw it away in a trashcan, where we happened to be, festering, and sticky with sweet peach juice. He was a man of handsome features on the outer layer, yet he was a complicated man; his insides made of strange curiosities ranging from the monstrous to delicate, fine intricacies. He collected all those things, as if he were collecting pieces of his own tattered soul, and we were, to Edgar’s eyes, finally beautiful.
