Description During the last storm that rocked through my town , there was the most spectacular explosions as mother nature showed us what she was made of .

Thank you so much Its great getting such wonderful feedback , its the first time I have ever tried photographing lightning and I was really happy with the results

The last tyme I tried to capture lightning I shot a gang-load of photos before I realized my camera was empty!!!
GAH!

I have never been in such a storm since.

Haha , yes I know how you feel , i used up two whole reels of film and got a total of 3 usable pictures . Bit depressing , but the end result was pretty spectacular . The 2 other photos in the Electrified series were taken from my back verandah and the was such ferosity in each strike that you could feel the electricity in the air before each new arm extended from the blackness and long after each roll of thunder and come across the hills. The first one was taken from the cattle yards at the far end of my property .

looks to me as claws drawing light-blood from the heavens, slicing open the swollen bellies of the clouds with a defening snarl in a swift and massive onslaught.

Tangent- isn't it wierd that people who get struck by lightning often get hit more than once? Electric personality I guess!

I would have to agree , we have a tree here on my farm which has been hit by lightning 4 times in around about the same spot . It resembles something of a deranged pile of match sticks

In the same storm , about 20 Kilometres down the road from me , my neighbour lose his hay shed when a bolt of lightening splintered off from the main storm front and spiked the ground just in front of the main opening . It looked like someone had taken to the shed with a big can opener

I used a Olympus OM-2 35mm camera. Simply because its all I had available .
