When the newest addition to the equestrian center arrived, you could tell he was all business. When tested out in the arena, he responded perfectly to every command and jumped every obstacle flawlessly. In the stable, he kept to himself, very reserved. The other horses in the stallion wing usually were more community like, which was surprising due to the fact that they are all intact males. But of course the exception had always been Scotty, the crazed Arabian. But there was something different about Mouse. He was so concentrated, that he basically ignored the other horses' nickers, and concentrated on his stall time.
"I just don't understand. It's like he is in his own world, thinking everything out. Horses at this age should be happier," Sloane sighed. The two girls watched him as he chewed his food thoughtfully, as if he was trying to figure out the exact ratios of the food! Mouse's neighbor, Humble, tried to stick his head in Mouse's stall to say a friendly hello, but Mouse just ignored him.
"Maybe he needs some pasture time? Some fresh air and exercise should make him happy!" suggested Marianne.
"Good idea. I'll take him out to the back pasture now," said Sloane. She opened the stall door and clipped on Mouse's halter. Mouse looked up and wondered where he was being taken. They walked down the row of pastures, to the second to last one which was empty. They decided that he would be in a pasture alone, to make sure his aloofness didn't turn into aggression towards any other horse. The pasture over was occupied by Humble, so he could keep a watchful eye on the new arrival. Sloane unclipped the halter, and turned the stallion loose. Mouse walked into the pasture, and started to graze under the tree. He seemed more relaxed, but still thinking. Sloane sighed, and just as she was about to leave, she noticed something. A jolly ball went flying over the fence from Humble's pasture! It landed in front of Mouse with a thud. This jolted the stallion out of his concentrated daze, and stared at the ball. What is that? He pawed at it, and it moved! He noticed the handle on it.
'Hmmmm...I wonder what would happen if I picked it up?' Mouse delicately took the ball in his mouth, and then threw it. The ball flew through the air, and landed with a couple bounces. Like a little foal, Mouse galloped after it! Throw after throw, he was having so much fun! Humble raced him along the fence and played with him until he eventually got tired and returned to grazing. But Mouse kept on playing. If a horse could speak, this one would say "Ohhhhh this is such a fun ball!! Yayyyyy!!!"
Sloane was on the ground laughing, it was so cute! She then got up, went into Humble's pasture, and pet the big stallion.
"Thanks for helping me with this one!" And with that Humble nuzzled Sloane right in the head.

Whoo, this was so much fun to draw! I love watching horses play in the pasture, it is always so funny! There is this one horse at my barn who is in love with jolly balls, and you can always see him tossing around one! Mouse is such a cutie, so I simply had to draw him! Sorry if the mane and tail looks odd, I'm really sick right now and I'm barely awake! Anyways, enjoy!
