Description There'll be no oasis for a dry local grazier
There'll be no refreshment for a thirsty jackaroo
The train smokes down the xylophone
There'll be no stopping here

This long abandoned railway station at Merilden, South Australia has some oddly well kept and totally uncharacteristic palm tree's growing to either side. Even with the bright moonlight it was clear enough for me to capture the milky way but damn it was cold (you can see some low fog in the background)

5x3 stitch taken with my 6D and Tamron 24-70mm f2.8. Best viewed full size.

The location is about 100 miles out of town so there was little light pollution except for the moon. The settings were f2.8, ISO 2000 and 20 second exposure

Yeah, the Canon 6D, their cheapest full frame camera, I think. Also it's a 5x3 stitch of portrait photos because I don't have an ultra wide lens yet.

Yeah, it's a cool little spot, my friend AKS-Photography Β found it on google maps after seeing a few people posting their photos of the location. I like how our deviation titles for this place have a similar flow.... "town with no cheer" and "nowhere but here"

Being away from the city helps too. Even I was surprised when I saw how it came out on my LCD as i was taking the photos.

It was actually taken at around 1am, the whole scene is moonlit.
